I'm about at my breaking point with Verizon. You never can talk to a real agent, phone bill has doubled over the years, and you get no discounts. They took away loyalty discounts, they took away paperless and automatic payments having their own individual discounts and try to only give you one smaller discount for doing both, and so on.

It's ridiculous that your phone bill costs more than your car payment, insurance, groceries, etc.

And they give better discounts/deals/prices to new customers instead of the ones who have been with Verizon for YEARS. They care more about getting new customers than taking care of the ones they have. I compared plan prices as an existing customer VS if you're a new customer, the difference was appalling. Why are existing customers having to pay more?

I've been considering switching to a different carrier because it feels like I'm throwing my money away, and for what?

My bill is around $150 for 1 phone. I have friends who use Cricket, AT&T, etc. They're bill for 2 phones is only $65.

I'd check your account for perks/subscriptions lurking around which aren't being used anymore and cancel them. Another thing which can drive up your bill is if you're on an old plan no longer available to incoming customers. Eventually you end up paying about what current plans cost, but depending on how old your plan is, won't be getting the same kinds of bells/whistles if your plan dates back to the 3G days as an example. The autopay discount also goes down over time for older plans.

Verizon's 2 large competitors charge in about the same ballpark for postpaid unlimited service plans. If your friends are getting 2 lines for $65 total at Blue Logo Place, then they must be prepaid. The Noisy Bug Carrier is a budget carrier using Blue Logo Place, but the reason why prepaid customers and budget carriers are cheaper is because you are subject to increased deprioritization on the towers. In a nutshell, cell phone service is like many other things in life where you usually get what you pay for.
