Community Email Notifications

The community email notifications (i.e... My Account, Comments & Followed Content) have been very sporadic. Often delayed or not received. Noticed that recently the 'notification email' icon and checkboxes are no longer showing in the "Notification Preferences" settings while the "Followed Content" settings still show the email checkbox. The FAQ only talks about 'follow'

@Fdbk this has now been fixed and you now have access to those preferences. I'm going to say for now that things are sporadic because it's still slow going right now.

Not sure if the admins are aware of this, but now it doesn't seem possible to "leave conversation" (delete) any private messages. When the forums first came back online to posting, I was able to individually delete all my old PMs which had somehow resurfaced from "deletion" back in the old forums by leaving each individual conversation. But I just tried to delete a new PM message conversation by using the "leave conversation" button and it simply grays out the screen and does an endless loop.

The forum ranks are still a work in progress, and I can't help but chuckle over how I've been promoted, demoted, and promoted again several times in the past few days alone.

@SynthpopAddict, yes, until that issue is fixed I am keeping an eye on your account to make certain that you have appropriate permissions. They are looking into it and the pm issue.

Had the same issue (with a workaround) where I described on the 1st blog which seemed to go unnoticed by the admins. Moreover, the FAQ still hasn't been updated and gives the impression that bulk deleting is a feature.

Can confirm that the "Leave Conversation" has been fixed and doesn't require the workaround 🙂

Still not receiving emails (new posts/comments) regarding "Followed Content" (including this thread) even though the 'Notification Preferences' for each category is checked for emails. Can you please confirm if this issue is being worked on?

Unfollow + re‑Follow the category and re‑enable all email options) to “reset” category‑level subscriptions.

@VZ_Donna, tried that but no luck. There is clearly a problem going on with the email delivery as I'm not the only user having issues.

@Fdbk when you updated your notification preferences in your profile, did you get a little popup near the bottom left which says something like "success, changes saved" whenever you made the changes? I wasn't getting any email notifications at all from the new forums because they were all unchecked by default when my account was migrated over from the old forums. When I started checking a few of the email boxes, then I started to get some emails, but I think if you don't get that popup confirming that your changes were saved, then your update isn't being saved.

@SynthpopAddict yes, I did. The only emails that I'm receiving in real time are mentions and PMs. Others arrive 1-2 days later after the post or comments was created. There are some that just don't ever arrive.

This is a little unrelated, but I'm wondering if the email issue could be caused by having an old email domain? Because I had a similar issue elsewhere just over the past 2 days, where 2FA emails for another website completely quit arriving in my inbox. This completely locked me out of the other place because they have no other means of 2FA. The email account I was using for that place is a very old one which I've had for decades. I called the business in question and after hours of epic conversations with 2 CSRs (which is why I'm still awake at 4:30am), the second one finally got the idea to try changing my email address and then wham! the 2FA emails arrived perfectly and I could login again. 🙄

Anyway, I use the same, ancient email address for these forums…so maybe that's why not all my email notifications make it to my inbox? Should I try to change it in my profile? I just hope it doesn't break my forum login again, considering the "whoops" issue I was having over all the past weekend. I've got my "attachments" to my favorite sites. 😉

It's something to do with Microsoft and Verizon. It's being worked on.

Does anyone ever wonder if this is some agenda for Google to take over all the email market? 🤔 Still wondering if I should simply change the email address for my forum account, and also if that same issue is why I got locked out of another site altogether until a CSR there finally changed my email to something running off the "G" service…
