I just got a call from the 800-***** number myself while at work. Since my phone is also used for work calls, I answered. The person on the other end was not exactly rude, but immediately asked for me without identifying themselves or the purpose of their call. When asked, they told me they were calling on behalf of Verizon to see if I needed to upgrade phones or add lines. I said no, and the caller hung up.
It was a relatively short call, but caller lacked any concept of phone etiquette and in this day and age, scam calls out of the blue spoofing identities and caller IDs from other companies are ubiquitous. If this number is one of yours, there should be something better to identify it as such, and equally important having your cold callers learn and use phone etiquette.
