I want the Verizon pedestal removed from my front yard
It's in a utility easement; they are not going to remove it as there's most likely live service in it could be feeding something blocks away.
You could try contacting Verizon via one of their social media channels to ask about it, but I'd have to agree with retiredphonedude that the box may still be in use for something. If it's an old Bell Atlantic or GTE box, then it is possible that it's defunct, but it is still on an easement, which means only the organization with the rights to use the easement can remove the box if it's dead.
