How do I find my lost phone now that it has a dead battery? Can Verizon find it from the last known place before the battery died? I’ve read that, but don’t know where to start. I don’t believe the phone was stolen, just misplaced… many thanks for all you can offer. I don’t want a new phone-I’m desperate to get my info back.

If location was enabled on the phone, you can use a "find my" app for several of the large brands of phones to indicate the last known location of the phone. If it's an iPhone, "lost mode" can be enabled on it remotely so even if someone does find the phone and charges it, the phone will be locked. Details below copied from Google:

Steps to Find a Lost Android Phone:

Locate: Go to the Find Hub website

Find Hub: Locate, Lock, or Erase Your Device

and sign in with the Google Account linked to the phone.

Play Sound: If the phone is nearby, select "Play Sound" to make it ring at maximum volume for 5 minutes, even if it was set to silent.

Secure Device: Use "Lock" to remotely lock the phone with a new PIN or password, and log out of your Google account.

Erase Data: As a last resort, use "Erase" to permanently delete all data from the device.

Offline Tracking: The Find Hub network can locate devices even when offline, provided they have a compatible Android OS.

Steps to Find a Lost iPhone:

Locate: Visit

Find Devices - Apple iCloud

or use the "Find My" app on a trusted Apple device.

Play Sound: Select your device and choose "Play Sound" to make it emit a sound to help you find it.

Mark as Lost: Enable "Lost Mode" to lock the screen, track its location, and display a custom message with your contact info.

*Note: I have never owned an iPhone, but am pretty sure you can use the Apple version of "find my" to remotely factory reset your Apple device if it cannot be found or has been stolen.
