Dead Zone in highly populated DC Area

We have been told our home has essentially turned into a dead zone, even though our cell service was fine prior to the major Verizon outage in Jan 2026. Since then, we’ve had ongoing issues and have been going back and forth with Verizon for months without a fix.

Is anyone else experiencing something similar? At this point, is it worth switching carriers? We’re still tied into phone contracts, so it doesn’t seem straightforward to leave, but the service has become totally unreliable.

Would appreciate any advice on what others in this situation have done.

What, if any, troubleshooting, have you done on your devices? I'm leaning towards this being something with either your account needing to be reprovisioned, or there is something going on with your phones. Unless there have been a lot of people suddenly moving into your neighborhood or some new construction just started which is blocking cellular signal for whatever reason.

If there is a school nearby, it could be that the school is using something to intentionally block cellular service in order to keep students from using their phones in class.

[edit] I remember reading a thread a couple years ago where someone reported their house turned into a Verizon dead zone. After some investigation, it was discovered their home WiFi router was causing the problem and when they got a new router from their ISP then all was well. In my own experience, I've noticed cellular signal strength declines around anything producing strong EMF. Can't get reception when I'm at a radiology clinic due to all the X-ray machines, MRI equipment, PET scanners, etc.
