Verizon S24 phone problems

Question

In the last 3 weeks I have been virtually unable to reach the internet using my phone without using my home wifi, which kind of defeats the point of having unlimited data plan.

I am in a cell phone tower desrt, just within range of towers, but on the outskirts of them  I get a 4G one bar signal at home.

Search times out when I try to use my phone data plan though the verizon network.  I don't want to have to use my home wifi when using my phone, I don't have unlimited wifi plan with my internet carrier.

Appreciate any help.

All good suggestions and in the offing here.  I did call verizon.  They did something on their end had me turn off and turn on my phone.  Helped when they did it, but not hours later, so…..

I have xfinity, need to have an electrician move some incoming siring from the floor in my office tot he wall then we're looking at changing internet service providers.  We're limited where we live, but considering ATT for unlimited service.  Then considering options other than verizon, I'm not sure any provider is better for my area based on tower locations.  We had T-mobile and saved money, but I couldn't use my phone in my basement.  if i was in my shop and my wife was out somewhere and called I couldn't get the call, so I pay way to much for verizon because it used to work in the basement.    I'm old, one thing at a time.  thanks for your help.  brian

You're welcome, Brian.  The CSRs aren't able to use these forums for now.  I can't figure out why your service has been like that for only 3 weeks, unless you only just moved to your current location.  To contact someone with Verizon to ask about the network issue, you'd have to use either one of Verizon's social media channels, the "contact us" link at the top of the forum page, or live chat in My Verizon.  The "check network status" link used to say if there was work being done on the towers nearby, but that could have changed.  In any case, I'd try reporting it to Verizon in case they aren't aware of your neighborhood being a weak spot.

-119 dBm is a dead zone, unfortunately, and considered very poor signal.  If you've got a data cap with your ISP, it's going to rule out getting a network extender from Verizon or using WiFi on your phone all the time, unless you want to change ISPs to someone who provides unlimited data.

Have you tried asking other people who live in the same area who they use for cellular service?  If your home is somehow 0 for 3 with all the major carriers, then you'll have to look into obtaining a 3rd party signal booster system for your home which is compatible with the carrier you wish to use.

Thanks for your help.  I checked network status, says no 5G where I live. I checked my signal strength this morning.  It is an overcast rainy day, if this matters.  -119dBm  21asu
