Problems with activation. Help?

Hello all. A few days ago, my Droid screen stopped working after just over a year of use. I took it to the Verizon store. They had a re-manufactured "like new" phone sent to my house. I switched over the battery and SD card. According to the pamphlet, I should follow the on-screen instructions to activate my phone. Problem is, there were no on-screen instructions. I tried to create an account at Verizon to have the phone activated online...but they send your password via text to your phone...which I obviously cannot use. What should I do? Take it back to the store or is there something I can do to activate the phone (without an online Verizon account) here at home?

Usually, Verizon customers can activate a phone by dialing *228, then picking #1. It asks you for your phone number etc. Hopefully you were able to find help by now.

Thank you so much for this information! I'm not sure why they didn't tell me this at the store (or at least include it with the activation guide). Would have saved me a lot of trouble. Thank you again!

if the folks in the store aren't selling you something, they make nothing in helping you, which makes for no incentive to really help.
