I just  got a lg ally. Downloaded my ringtones from my old phone from verizon site then I also downloaded a new ringtone. I received all three of them and opened them to see if they came okay. All worked. Held down on screen until use as ringtone screen apeared. Set as a ringtone. Went to use the ringtones but no sound. What went wrong and how do I fix

Unfortunately, I found out the hard way, you cannot load ringtones to the Ally in that manner.  I did find a way to do it though!  Put all ringtones that you want to load in a directory on your computer so that you have them in a spot that is convenient.

 

Remove the Micro SD card and insert it into your computer (you will need the adapter that goes with it).  Place it in your computer. You MicroSD came preloaded with some directories....you need to locate the Media Directory. If it doesn't already contain the following folders, create them:

 

Alarms

Notifications

Ringtones

 

Copy all of the ringtones from our computer to the "Ringtones" directory.  Copy any Notification sounds you want (i.e. when email arrives, text messages arrive, etc) to the Notifications directory.  Once you have moved all your ringtones and notifications, place the MicroSD card back in your phone.  Now, when you navigate back to your ringtones, you will see them in the listing (alphabetically).  Now you can assign them to contacts or whatever.
