How can I tell if a number is for a cell phone or land line?
With the availability of number portability, and folks porting their landline to their cell phones, it's not easy. I'm not even sure it's possible in every instance to determine of the phone number is now attached to a cell phone or a landline.
If you need to know if it is a Verizon Wireless # (and therefore, IN Network for free calls from another Verizon Wireless #) Use this tool to check the number(s) in question. If they come up as IN NETWORK, then it will count as M2M.

I use this web site sometimes-->Reserve Phone Directory
You just type in the phone number under Reserve Phone Lookup. There will be Type of phone. It will list whether it is a cellular phone or land line.
