verizon iPhone 3G

I have a Droid 2 Global that is constantly having problems, I had to hard reset it more than 10 times!!! I also have an old iPhone 3G! Unlocked, will it work with Verizon? My droid 2 global works with the sim card, if I remove it, it wont work, will it work if I put on the iPhone? Even though it works with CDMA, wouldn't it work with verizon's GSM network? I am already a Verizon member, and I already have a contract.

Again, your best bet is to contact Verizon. Could be your area...could be your device (especially if it's not a legit Verizon device or you did any unauthorized mods to it).

If I'm not mistaken that unlocked iPhone 3G will only work on another GSM network, not on CDMA (Verizon).

But Verizon has a GSM network, and why wouldn't it work with Verizon? I bought the iPhone in a PCCW store in Hong Kong

Verizon does not have a GSM network. Verizon is CDMA. If you have a Global VZW phone then you can use it on a GSM network when overseas by way of roaming...but as far as Verizon Wireless (which operates here in the U.S., not overseas) goes, it is a CDMA network.

Then how come the phone doesn't work when I remove the simcard or I thought I read on the Verizon website that they were launching a Verizon GSM/MUST network

Verizon Wireless is CDMA. Global phones work on GSM networks out of the country (hence the word "global") but in the states, Verizon Wireless towers are CDMA. You can use the iPhone 3G on GSM networks, but Verizon is not a GSM network.

No clue what you're talking about...as far as whichever phone you're referring to not working when you pull it's sim card. Verizon is a CDMA network...perhaps you were referring to the 4G LTE portion of the network? You can read the info in the "About Us" section of the Verizon Wireless website or do a simple internet search for the info. I have never heard of any plans for VZW to launch a GSM network...

You're out of the country, correct? If you are, it was likely using a GSM network (assuming you are referring to a VZW phone).

Again, are you out of the country? Meaning, are you using your global droid 2 in a country other than the United States? If so, then you were given your answer. Your phone is roaming on a GSM network with the sim card in. The network it is roaming on does NOT belong to Verizon Wireless (regardless if it's on the GSM network or CDMA). You would have to be aware of this if you are truly a Verizon Wireless customer using your service in a foreign country. You could not have walked into a Verizon Wireless store while being overseas...your service was initiated in the United States with a U.S. billing address in order to have ever entered into a contract with Verizon.

FYI, you also have to know that just because you read something on the internet doesn't make it true. If you read it on a rumor site...it's a rumor with no fact base. If it's not info available on the Verizon Wireless website (in regards to anything involving the Verizon Wireless services and network they provide) then it is not confirmed to be true.

Well, I am in California near LA, the GSM/MUST thing was on the Verizon website.

Not aware of anywhere on the VZW website that shows they have/had plans to start a GSM network but if you can find that info on the site you can easily contact VZW and ask for clarification. I checked the About US info that VZW provides on the site and after reading through several of the links I could not find anything that stated that. Perhaps I am overlooking it. As far as what you say is occurring, I have never heard of that happening with a legitimate VZW global phone. Assuming you have a legitmate Verizon Wireless CDMA global phone then you should be able to contact Verizon or go to your local Verizon store to figure out what's going on. The unlocked iPhone 3G is not going to work on the Verizon network. Perhaps I am completely misunderstanding something but there seems to be some very odd things going on with your claims. At any rate, if you aren't involved in anything questionable you should contact Verizon.

Ok thanks, and one more thing, on my droid 2, when theres no wife available or im not connected to one, 3G automaticly kicks in, but it never loads a website, it says loading but never does.
