droid eris facebook contacts.

just getting used to my new eris. i have contacts on my phone that are on facebook, but dont show in the link facebook section. & i have facebook friends that are not in my phone contacts but show in the facebook links on my phone. having trouble figuring this one out.

It is dependent on the names matching perfectly, so my contact Alycia didn't match my FB friend Aly. But, I opened Alycia's contact to edit and at the bottom there is an option to link to FB and manually choose the FB profile to link to.

Once you link, a note is added to your contact in gmail with your fb id number and theirs, otherwise no changes.

I'm not a big "facebook person" so i can't give you any absolute help here, but since nobody else seems to have an answer for you either, I'll at least give it a shot.

I seem to remember when setting up facebook initially every time I reset a phone, that it asks about syncing the facebook contacts... And it might be the facebook app that I'm using, too... I don't remember if the FB app that comes with the Eris is the "official" app by facebook or not, or if I installed that one... Either way, I most certainly do NOT want all the garbage on facebook to infest my "good" set up contacts, so I never chose to sync. That last thing I need is to add 20 or 30 more contacts to my existing 250 or so that I have to wade through when I go to send a message :smileyhappy:

You might try a couple of things. One, delete your facebook account from the phone and then set it up again, paying attention to the sync options. If your facebook app doesn't give you those options, maybe try downloading a different client from the market to see if a different client gives you different options.

Anyone know how the notifications work for facebook? I get updates about people that aren't contacts in my phone, they are just random facebook friends, and it seems like I don't get updates about some of the people that are contacts -- seems almost random... anyway to set who I am notified about updating their facebook profile?
