ITunes 10.5 will not install

Upgraded my IPhone 3 today to the IPhone 4S, hooked up to my MacBook Pro 17 to sync in ITunes. Message said I needed to update ITunes to 10.5. Many attempts failed to install, message says, Run preupgrade Script for Apple mobile device support. Need help to solve this issue.

Try downloading itunes directly from Apple's website, rather than going through itunes on your computer. I was having a similar problem and that worked for me.

This should work, I had the same issue on downloading 10.5

Thanks for the information, I have downloded it from apple and I still get the same message. I have seen lots of post with the same issue but they all have been with windows users.

Finally was able to install 10.5 this morning after many attemtps. It appears Apple was overwhelmed with downloads. Thanks again for your suggestions.
