Android + Verizon = Failure.

Verizon has the worst tech support for the Android.

 

I had to spend 3 hours with support just to figure out how to transfer my contacts from my previous phone - they didn't even know what to do...I had to show them features of how to get this done.....

 

then....they give me the wrong instructions and now because of what these so called technicians came up with - brilliant people that they are - the 486 contacts now loaded into my droid are useless. I can not call them or my phone will not recognize the person calling me when they are clearly in my contacts.

 

Solution.

 

Oh, I have to either delete all of my contacts in my gmail (2,000 + contacts) which I would lose ALL of my contacts (GREAT SUGGESTION JOB VERIZON TECH'S)

 

or

 

if I do not want to lose all of my contacts - I must cross reference the 486 contacts in my verizon back up assistant with what is now in my 2,000 contacts in gmail and delete them one by one.  not like i have anything else to do than fix the mistakes of the people who are supposed to know what they are telling us.

While your complaint is valid you have to understand the situation.  What phone did you have before?  I'm guessing a non smartphone.  Not all phones use the same structure for contacts and as android has two different types of contacts it can be more confusing.

 

Android it self isn't the easiest to understand in all areas and it does have a learning curve to it for understanding it.  Exporting your contacts to a CSV and then deleting those you know are already in google is one way.  Knowing the phone you had previously can make a huge difference in the steps needed to do this.  If your old phone has bluetooth, you could bluetooth the address over.  I did that on my wifes phone, but it isn't android and my contact improted fine via CSV and I had a smartphone before this one.
