I like the phone (HTC Eris Droid) to lock when I hit the "end" key, but I want it NOT to lock when the screen times out.

you can try your settings to make the phone stay on, but if you do that then it always stays on whether you on a call or not.
however, there are apps out there that will allow you to pick a choose which things you want a "no timeout" to affect like the app "Power Manager Full"
I like it to timeout, and I already control how long it waits. I just don't want it to lock when it times out, only when I lock it by pressing the end key.
Unfortunately, when your screen timeout it is just as the same as pressing the end button, therefore it will require you to enter your lock code. This is just how the security of the phone is set up when the lock code is enabled.
