easy phone answering?

Now some of you will consider this a silly questions but after searching all kind of application web sites, I need to know if there is something like this out in cyber space:  I just got my Droid about three days ago and I'm still learning what and how to do things.  I had to answer the phone twice and it just takes me forever to "wake" the phone, then slide the unlock and then touch the "green" phone.  Is there and application that by-passes those things and you just touch the screen and the phone is anwered?  If I'm in my car, answering the phone is easy, I just use my GPS.  But at home, not an easy task.

 

I had something like this on my "old" phone, even tough it was locked I just had to press the "green" button and I could actually talk on the phone. 

 

So, please somebody give me hints or help on how to quickly answer my new phone. I really want to keep it.

this is a little perplexing to me....

 

if i receive a call, my phone wakes up automatically, shows the name/number of the person calling and then at the bottom, a green button and a red button.  the green for accept the call and red for refuse the call.  i have never had to unlock the phone then choose whether or not i wanted to accept or refuse the call.

 

is the Motorola Droid or the HTC Eris, which many people refer to as the droid too?
