Unlimited data with iphone4s

So I just upgraded to the iphone 4s, actually when very smooth on the verizon site. The only hiccup I noticed was choosing a data plan for the device, I already have three smartphone plans with unlimited data and unlimited text so why do I have to choose something completely different (all those are bundled together by the way). I did notice the disclaimer at the bottom of the order page that says you can add these options back on after you get the device but was wondering if anyone else has had experience with doing this successfully.

bump.... I have this exact same question. We have a family plan with unlimited data for 3 or so phones but I was required to pick a plan when I bought the phone. I thought we were "grandfathered in" or is this only until we have to upgrade our phone again?

I was told by a Verizon Rep on the phone that when you receive your phone, activate it and then call them to tell them what happened. She said they would be happy to reset you back to what you had before.

No big deal.

I did not place an order but I just went through the process (canceled when I reached the credit card screen) so I can see what you all are being asked to do...since so many questions came up. On the data portion it showed other options but it also aleady had my unlimited data plan already marked with the words "exisiting feature" next to it so I did not have to select an option. Not sure if this is because I already have an iPhone 4 but it also showed the same thing for other features I already have ( for example, visual voicemail...since I already have the iPhone VM it was going to remain on that system. Anyone coming from a different device has to be switched to it and will lose any VM's from their current VM system if they don't back them up prior to activating the iPhone when they recieve it. This was also noted on the order screen). Others have stated they were told to pick the lowest data choice shown and once activated their grandfathered unlimited plan would transfer. This may be the case, but I personally would be a little concerned and need to be assured by VZW this is truly the case...this might be info available on the site...I'm not sure.

I agree with kaebfly. I do not currently have an Iphone and I was able to keep my existing plan during the upgrade to the 4s.
