I know otterbox has the 4s case on their webite. Do you know if the 4s is compatible with the regular Iphone 4 otterbox case? Any other cases people are looking at?
Ballistic cases.

I ordered the LS case. It's nice and slim, and I love the idea of the bumpers on the corners.
I have the Otterbox Reflex Series for my iPhone 4 and absolutely love it. Mophie has updated their website saying that all their iPhone 4 cases will fit the 4S, so I'm ASSUMING that all cases will also fit the 4S.
Thanks for the link eleedy...that looks like the type of case I was looking for, although I do need to check out all the Otterbox cases as well.
I just pre-ordred the Otterbox Defender for Iphone 4S. I have one for my current Blackberry. It has held up well as I am a Paramedic and Fire Captain. I did notice the Otterbox Iphone 4S specific new case has a larger cutout in the area of the earpiece and ? proximity sensor. Not sure if this was a new improvement from the Iphone 4 case which does not seem to have this bigger cutout area.

Yup - I already have a Ballistic HC case on order! I need something that will withstand some serious abuse as I am not getting insurance for my iPhone 4S. The Otterbox just isn't going to cut the mustard.
The Lifeproof case is very good. Water, Dirt, Snow, and Shock proof. It's very slim and still allows all normal functions. The only downside is that they are expensive. However, being able to use your iPhone at the beach or in the shower, etc. without having to worry is a really great experience. The same case will work on iPhone 4 and 4s in both colors and on any carrier.

How is the screen of the iPhone4? Was it easy to scratch? I have not had an iPhone since the 3G and I never put a screen protector on it with no problems. I now have the Droid and after 2 years with no screen protector there is not one scratch. I never liked the screen protectors because the feel was not right when one was on. I could never put one on and not have bubbles which was another problem.
Is it safe to leave the screen protector off of the iPhone4S? If not, which screen protectors do you guys use? Thanks

I've had an iPhone 4 since it came to Verizon and never put a screen protector on it. I have no scratches whatsover on my screen. And I'm a firefighter, so I'm not easy on a phone.
And I agree about the screen protectors not feeling right.
Oh, and I'm using the Switcheasy NUDE clear 1MM ultra-thin case on my iPhone 4 now. I plan to keep it for the 4s.

I just checked out that case and I like it a lot. I have a question about it, though. How well does it protect the screen in case of a drop? Right now I have an Otterbox Reflex series and it has bezel around the edges of the screen that keep the screen from actually impacting the ground, but with the pictures on the Switcheasy website I can't tell if there is one on that case or not. Can you advise?
OK great, thanks guys. I will check out the screen protector - as long as it is on and you cannot tell and it does not affect the feel then I will not have a problem with it.
I was told by a friend that when asking an Apple employee about protecting the iPhone 4 from scratches that the employee took his keys and proceeded to scratch violently across both the front and back of the phone. He handed it to my friend and there wasn't a scratch on it. Apparently the glass they use is amazing (magical?).
So I'm not sure I'm going to even worry about a case. Although I suppose that having something to absorb the shock of a drop might be helpful. I just don't want anything that's going to add much bulk to my phone.

There is no bezel around the screen like the Otterbox. The case is exactly flush with the screen. I have always been worried more about scratches so I sacrifice full body protection for a slimmer case. I would consider more rugged cases like the Otterbox if I wasn't carrying insurance.

A scratch test with a key doesn't expose the phone to everyday use. Also, most keys are made of brass which is a very soft metal. I got my iPhone 4 in Febuary and it was totally naked without protection for 4 days and I guarded that thing with my life until my case arrived. When I got a case I noticed a very fine scratch on the back. I don't know how it happened, but I do know that it's not magical glass and it will scratch.
Why not buy a nice unnoticeable front and back screen protector for cheap to keep that wonderful re-sell value that Apple products have?
i got full body anti-glare screen protector and i ordered cute asian TPU case from ebay
I ordered an Otterbox Universal Defender case from Amazon. It was on sale for $16.75 marked down from $49.95.
That is the Iphone 4 case and not the 4s i take it?
darcey99 wrote: That is the Iphone 4 case and not the 4s i take it?
Yes but the form factor is exactly the same. Any iPhone 4 case should fit a 4s.
What's different about the white one that cases would not fit it?
smitty, the iPhone 4 Otterbox cases said they didnt work with the white iPhone 4, I did some more searching online, apparently it had something to do with the proximity sensor, for some reason the cases were blocking them from working. Hopefully this has been corrected now that there's a white/black dual color launch
They use Gorilla Glass on the iPhone. It is pretty much indestructible. You can find some crazy videos on YouTube. It might crack if you drop it just right, but scratching it is pretty hard to do.
I'm a huge fan of plain, minimalist cases with the soft-touch feel. Anything which shows fingerprints is a dealbreaker, which eliminates most metallic and shiny plastic cases.
I have been using a Seidio Innocase on my OG Droid for the past 22 months and I love it; unfortunately the Seidio iPhone case is not quite as low-profile. It seems a bit more bulky and the design on the back is a bit much for me.
After much research, I have narrowed it down to the Incipio EDGE in Matte Black and the Incipio NGP in Matte Translucent MercuryGray. They both provide back protection, face down tabletop protection, and have a matte finish which won't show fingerprints. I ended up ordering both and will try them both out before making my final decision.
Thank you...the Incipio Edge looks like what I have been looking for. Most other cases seems to be more expensive with the features I was wanting. The Lifeproof case is what I keep going back to. I just have to decide if I want to spend that much money on a case.
So, has anyone received the Iphone 4s and tried out previous otterbox/other cases that fit the Iphone 4?
Apple Bumper Power Support Screen Protector (the best screen protector on market but high priced)
has anyone tried the Crimson AFC cases yet? I want to get one but I need more opinions. It is a sick case though
Just an update. Based on other forums, it does appear that the 4s will fit perfectly in the Otterbox IPhone 4 Defender Universal series. Anyone hear anything different?
Any Verizon iPhone 4 case should fit the 4S, haven't gotten home to check mine out yet, but that should be the case as the Verizon version had the mute switch in a slightly different place, and the 4S has that as well. I ordered an Otterbox back on the 4th, then got an e-mail last night saying due to overwhelming demand, it may ship late. Called today and the told me that while they couldn't tell me when it would ship, that the case I ordered had good stock so it should probably ship today or the latest tomorrow.
otterbox defender ordered from amazon for a total with shipping of less than $20.00
I've actually come full circle regarding a case on my iPhone 4. The cost and my history of clumsiness initially had me wanting to bomb-proof the thing. But I've come to really appreciate it's design, and I think it's crazy to cover it up. I'm just really careful with it.
I ordered my Otterbox Defender on 10/7 and it shipped 10/13. Its in Colordao now enroute to Rhode Island with expected 10/20 delivery date. Hope it gets here early as initially the delivery was 10/19. I got the same delay email but its on FedEx now. I ordered the 4S case since this is my first Iphone and Otterbox's site said he 4 case wouldn't fit the S. I didnt want to take any chances that the 4 case would fit since the front top of the case looked redesigned from the 4 one. I read somewhere the proximity sensor was the reason.
Tried two otterbox commuter cases in store last night and neither of them fit my iphone 4s correctly. Both stated 'universal' and iphone 4/4s. The top right corner of the silicone part was loose and the hard cover wouldn't fit it correctly. So glad I tried them before I left. I ordered the Incipio Silicrylic Kickstand Hard Shell Case for iPhone 4 & 4S, Gray/Magenta last night. Excited to get it!!
Also, there is a coupon code to save 10% of the website - WAK1123.
Cases on www.phonelifelove.com are pretty reasonable. They come with free screen protectors!
