I am considering getting Verizon's Home Phone Connect. I would like people's opinion if they are satisfied with it and recommend it to others. How's the performance? Any unusual taxes or extra fees involeved?
Thanks in advance... Bob
I have had Home Phone Connect for almost a year now. I have it with the $9.99 add a line with shared minutes on my Family Plan. I have not had 1 single problem with it. With taxes/fees, it comes out to $14.36/month. Your taxes/fees may be different. You can also put it on an unlimited calling plan for $19.99/month + taxes/fees. Whichever better suits you needs.
Depending on the cellular reception you get at your home, this may or may not be a good solution for you. Using my old cordless phones connected to the Home Phone Connect, I do not see any difference from the service I had prior. It is not compatible with fax machines, I believe.
I purchased a home phone connect in April of this year with the big "Of course you can use your fax with the home phone connect" GOD I hate being lied to!! I thought my old fax machine was broken because it didn't work, purchased a new one, still didn't work. Customer support a fax does NOT with this system. Now I have 2 fax machines, both are useless for me now, and a 2 year contract for this piece of s***!! Am I upset!! Our phone contracts end soon, and we will not renew. LIE to me once you may get by, but not s second time, especially costing me so much money!!
We've had Home Phone Connect for about 4 months and have had no problems. I read all of the literature beforehand and knew that it would not work with fax machines, alarm systems, etc. We have good cell reception at our house and so far the service has been just as good as our old landline service. As a bonus you can take it with you on trips if you want and basically take your home phone with you.

Did you do ANY research at all about this product.
From the product description on the Verizon website:
NOTE: Home Phone Connect is not compatible with home security systems, fax machines, DVR services, credit card machines, or medical alert services (e.g. Life Alert). HSI/DSL may or may not be available; please contact your service provider to determine if this product is available as a standalone offering."
I did not add the red highlighting, that is how it is displayed on the Verizon website! I have had Home Phone Connect for over a year now and have not had any problems. I kept a landline for use with my fax machine because with the minimal research I had done on the product, I was aware that fax machines were not compatible.
Edit: I also purchased the Home Phone Connect without a contract as I did not think paying a $175 ETF would be acceptable if I did not like the device when I was only receiving a $130 product in the first place. I just payed the $130 and will use this line to upgrade a smartphone where I get a ~$400 incentive if I need it. Then I would consider signing a contract.
I have faxed 2 times and both times it worked. Now that vzw has added name caller id i am happy camper.
Hello Lougib! Being lied to is unacceptable and I’d like to try and restore your confidence in our service. I’d hate to see you leave! As rcschnoor mentioned, the Verizon Wireless Home Phone Connect does not support incoming or outgoing fax service. Also, keep in mind the purchase of this device comes with a 14 day Worry Free Guarantee Exchange policy. Again, I don’t want you to leave over this. Were you able to return one of the fax machines? Thanks for being a part of the Verizon Wireless family!AnthonyTa_VZWVZW SupportFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Thank you for at least acknowledging my complaint and not calling me a lier in the process. Yes, I was able to return my purchase,as well as paying $40.00 for all the papers I needed faxed.
Since I have a 2yr. contract, and I can't afford to pay for another phone service, I'll have no choice but to continue this kind of wasteful spending for a while. I realize I had a 14 day worry free guarantee return policy, but was nieve enough to take the man at his word and did not come home and a trial run. Therefore, the trial period was up when I needed the use of my fax. As I said, the only question I asked was if the home service allowed me to use my fax and was told ‘absolutely yes.’ When I confronted him he said that he would never have said that, I must be mistaken. One question? I must be mistaken? REALLY!!
We have been loyal costumers for a few years now and use your services quite a bit, however one dishonest store can cost you business as this one has. Our phone contracts will be up in December at which time we will change companies. Service on my tablet has longer, but that will also be discontinued when the contract is up, as will be the same with the home phone.
Perhaps another company will give me more reliable answers to my questions and not try to con me into buying their products. Of course, I assume he did make a commission from this sale. Forgive me if I'm a little upset, and yes, we advertise.
Lougib
I tried numerous times and failed. I was told by support that it would not send a fax. I'm really glad it worked for you.
MY BAD. I didn't do my usual research, like an idiot I relied of my provider. O WILL I NEVER LEARN!!
It is sad that one cannot rely on one's provider but always has to do the research first. A friend of ours has the service and loves it, but doesn't know how to turn on a computer, and has no reason to send a fax. That was the reason for my one question about a fax, I already knew how great it was otherwise.
20 bucks, whats not to like?
How do I get my phones (new Panasonic 6.0 DECT) to show both NAME and number in CID? I am paying $1.99/mo. extra for this feature, and Verizon CS is no help.
I was an AT&T land-line customer for 40 years, but am now moving and I have ported my number. CID worked properly on these same phones until I switched to Verizon. I did my research. CID without both name and number is USELESS.
AT&T is now bombarding me with offers which would more than off-set the Verizon Early Termination Fees. Do I have to switch back? (Please do not advise me to call CS or IT. Been there, done that.)

Well, for 1 thing, I currently pay $9.99/month for my Home Phone Connect with the shared minutes on my Family Plan. If I migrate to the Share Everything plan, that will increase to $20 which isthe access fee for Home Phone Connect on the Share Everything plan. Double in price, same service.
Before you say "but you will be getting unlimited minutes/texting", you cannot text on Home Phone Connect, and I come nowhere close to a combined 1400 minutes on all 5 of my lines every month. This will not change if I have unlimited.
I have had no problems with my Home Phone Connect, but if I decide to go with the Share Everything plan, I will be dropping that line.
Did you call CS and make sure your market is one that supports CID? most dont
This is a LAND LINE (ported) number. It supports the number, then why not the name? Verizon CS says it should. Why does Verizon have the "service" listed under the "extra options" for my plan, which is called Home Phone Connect, Local and LD Unlimited?. It is listed right there in my individual plan menu. Why are they accepting my payment for the "added feature", if it is, in fact, not available? Is this not a classic bait & switch?
No, because you can cancel the caller id feature if it doesnt work for you.
I have the Panasonic Dect 6.0 Plus (KX-TG155) model. My phone announces the name and displays both name and phone number on the screen. I am not paying extra for this. My home phone was added to my contract (19.99 a month). Did you set your CID to "on"?
Do you have the issue of getting an echo when talking? I have several friends tell me that there is an echo when I talk. I don't hear it. I am not sure if it is the phone or the service.
I have the new Panasonic (one Base Unit with three additional satellites) KX-TG234SK. They worked flawlessly with the CID Name/Number with AT&T.
I changed nothing on the phones when I switched on 06/17/12 to Verizon Land Line Connect. Yes, I have the CID set to "on". I do hear an echo at times. It is not on every call (constant), but at this point only occasional. It is, however, very annoying. Overall call quality is OK, but not as good as a hard-wired land line, imo. My second bill has now arrived, and as promised it is less than $25.00, incl. fees. This is nice, since I have been paying AT&T over $38.00/mo. for years, and that was a line-line with local service only.
I am up to 27 on the number of Blocked Callers. That means I will soon run out (limit of 30). I can use the five from Verizon, and since we will all soon be getting bombarded for the upcoming election, those will be used up as well. However, now that my ported number is not a land-line but really a cell number, I have noticed that neither my own answering machine or the default Verizon Voice mailbox is taking calls. I do not understand that at all. The phone rings max five times, and then just stops.
Call VW, they can shut off the voice mail feature, which then allows the answering machine to pick up the call.
What service does anyone use for Faxing if you have Home Connect?
Thanks
no it never workes
I have HPC and a landline for faxing.
Hi levinemj,Thanks for the input on using a fax with the Home Phone Connect feature. Thanks also goes out to the poster with the original inquiry, Lougib. I see that this is a topic that has interested the community, and I would like to provide some additional information and clarify it for you all. As great as the Home Phone Connect service is, there are some limitations. I have listed this information below. -Fax Machines, Collect Calls (send and receive), and DSL Dial Up -Medical equipment, including pacemakers-Home security systems-Personal security services, including Lifeline and Life Alert-Credit Card Machines. -Rotary phones and pulse dial not supported.
