Sync Error

I have had my HTC DROID Eris for 4 days and overall I really like it, but I do have a error question

There is a little notice that comes up in the corner and when I click on it, it says "Ongoing, Sync, Too many contacts deletes" When I click on that message it comes up and says "Delete limit exceeded.....what would you like to do? Delete Items, Undo Deletes, Do nothing for now." I pick one the message goes away for a few seconds and then comes back. I have tried all 3 things and none of them make that message go away for good. Help How do I make it go away?

Check to see if your autosync is enabled, If it is try disabling this feature for a few minutes and then if you would like to have it back on you can enable it and see if the problems persists.

You can access the synchronization settings by going to Menu > Settings > Accounts & sync or data sychronization

I have the same problem and the problem persists if I turn off Contacts from sync in my Data Synchronization area.

I meant to say it persists if I turn off autosync wait for a few minutes and then try to resume.

On the Droid you would go into settings, Applications, Manage Applications, select menu, filter, then All apps, go to Contacts Storage, and select to "Clear Data" The exact menu steps might be a little different for the Eris, but should be close enough for you to find :smileyhappy:

This should wipe all of your contacts from the phone and it should then re-sync with your google account after a few minutes.

Well, I need to backup my contacts then as I've never been able to successfully sync with google contacts.

Anyone have the steps to backup and clear on the Eris? I'd hate to clear out all of my contacts and have to re-enter them manually.
