How do I cancel Total Equipment Coverage?
The easiest (only?) way to cancel the TEc is to call *611 or 800-922-0204 and ask to speak to a rep - it normally doesn't take more than a couple of minutes for me to get a real person on the phone. Just a couple of weeks ago we cancelled the TEC on my daughter's iPhone - took less than 5 minutes on the phone, and I just got our bill; we were charged for a partial month and will no longer have the item on our bill. So all is well.

I believe you just call 611 from your phone, or 800-922-0204. You may be able to do it from your online account, but I am not positive.
Hi psvaughan,
I'd like to offer you options with changing features on your device and account!
First, thanks to budone for the feedback & suggestions! Yes, you can contact our Customer Service Department to have the Total Equipment Coverage feature removed from your account, you may also process the change online (My Verizon/www.VerizonWireless.com) and you may add or remove features using the My Verizon application on your device. You would just launch the application, sign in if need be, then go to the "Plan" section and select "Change Features".
I hope we have answered your question, and have addressed your concern.
Thanks,

Hey Anthony,
I tried removing TEC from my line since my device was purchased off of Craigslist and isn't covered by TEC anyways, but it does not show under my added services. It's also billing separately from my monthly VZW bill as a separate recurring charge of $6.99. What gives?
Hello Anthony and Subarugoddess (Nice name, I own a Subaru),
Should not be a problem to call and cancel total equipment coverage. That's what I did when I got my phone off craigslist. :smileyhappy:

Thanks davegr!
subarugoddess, were you able to get the Total Equipment Coverage removed from your account?
If not, please send me a direct message so I can further assist.
Thanks again,
Anthony: I like the others am frustrated and deeply insulted by the fact that there IS no direct way to cancel Total Equipment Coverage online on my account. Why does Verizon need to engage in such deceptive tactics. I just spent 15 frustrating minutes convincing myself that no pathway actually exists. Call VZW? That would be the phone company which is never available except after a multi-minute wait, right?
I don't understand why VZW is so determined to tax all of its subscribers, all the time. Certainly, it's only because the competition is even more lame that we put up with this abuse. Where is capitalism when we actually need it?
Please do cancel TEC, a usurious service at the new and greatly increased price.

I see no way to direct message you. Can you please contact me, I want to close TEC.
Whenever you want to cancel something you are paying for you have to call and talk to a person. Verizon will not let anyone reduce their payments online. They will let you add as many features that you have to pay for online, but cancel, never.
Thanks for the 611 tip. Although I was on hold for a while, it was worth it to be able to cancel my TEC. I ask the rep why the cancel wasn't available online and she replied that once it's cancelled it can't be reinstated and they feel that's too important to leave to chance. Color me skeptical
Hello community! My apologies for any frustrations or concerns the removal of the TEC feature may have caused. Your feedback is valuable and I will ensure I send this suggestion to our leadership. At this current time we would like to speak with you regarding the removal of TEC to ensure all of the proper disclosures are provided. We just like to make sure everyone knows exactly what is going on with their account.Pretty important!Thank you all againMelissaM_VZW Follow us on Twitter @vzwsupport
It is ridiculous that you cannot cancel TEC online and even more ridiculous that nowhere online does it say: "To cancel TEC, you must call." Instead we all wasted our time looking for a way to cancel it online in this forum only to find out that we have to call. I don't buy what the rep said that "once it's cancelled it can't be reinstated and they feel that's too important to leave to chance." They could easily make an URGENT pop up message online in red stating: "ARE YOU SURE? Once canceled TEC cannot be reinstated." The reason you can't cancel online is because they want you to give up and keep paying the money. #DisappointedinVerizon
The TEC is a joke!... I'm an insurance producer for (deleted content as per VZW ToS..marketing is not permitted) and i have my Samsung Charge insured on (deleted). You do the math. The biggest kicker is that (deleted content) covers any and all damage, lost, stolen.... EVEN WATER DAMAGE!!! Along with NO DEDUCTIBLE!! Tell Verizon to take a walk with their (deleted content). If you want insurance call a real insurance provider.

I too have spent plenty of valuable online time trying to cancel TEC on one of our phones. The kicker is that the TEC was just added randomly to the lowest value phone on our list.....a free flip phone!!! Good thing I decided to scour through my online account to see if everything is legit. It wasn't. Now I have to waste more time on the phone.....
Yeah, it's real shady that you can't cancel this online. Real shady.
So I called customer service to cancel, spoke my intention of doing so into the automated response, they said they are receiving a high volume of calls, then transferred me -- and then said to call back during regular hours and disconnected.

Can't wait to go to t-mobile when my contract is up. 30 bucks cheaper, too.

You should have bought your phone at best buy. They charge same rate on their credit card but you can walk in any store and have your phone replaced... Immediately that day! and guess what NO DEDUCTIBLE..... and its not a repaired device. its NEW!
