anyone find out how corp discounts will apply to the new family share plans?
I doubt if you will get a definite answer until after someone receives their 1st bill under the new plan.
I can't count the number of times I have seen people say they were told one thing and see something else once they get their bill.
From what has been the consensus here is that it comes off the data part. And in case someone wants to be specific the data/texts/minutes part. In other words the part you'll pay between $50-$100 for.
You would think Verizon would have put out a detailed FAQ about corp discounting...
you would also think they would have known how their own new plans would work......but they didn't.
i have seen mostly what brian68 stated.....here and in other forums. but to be honest, i completely misunderstood some of this so who knows??
If you go into My Verizon and start to change your plan the new shared plan, it will do the discount calc for you. Which is your %age off of the $40-$100 data charge.
First thing I tried before posting and was not working for me. I called Verizon and the rep told me it's off the access fee (i.e. the total costs of all connected devices) and not the data charge...

That's not correct information.
According to Verizon's website, the "data charge" is the "ACCOUNT ACCESS" fee to be shared among ALL lines. Then you have the separate "LINE ACCESS" fee which is the charge for each phone to be on the Share Everything plan. So in essence, Verizon is saying everything you are charged is an "ACCESS" fee. It is just a question of WHICH access fee is to be discounted. All of the separate ones lumped together, or the single fee which is shared among all of the lines on the account. Verizon reps are saying the latter.
To keep with how discounts have worked in the past, it SHOULD be 1 line access for the primary line added to the account access fee. Doubtful this is how it will work, since it seems Verizon is trying to keep discounts to a minimum.
in the old days i got the discount off the priary line fee, and the data for the primary line
You are correct. I went ahead and switched, which the discount is not properly reflected on my account. It's the data portion of the discount (which for me, is 20% vs. my 22% access fee discount) on the data fee. It sucks for people who have those 15% access and 5% data discounts, because if it isn't explained, they are losing a nice portion of their discount.
It seems that it is too early to tell who is right in this question of "how" the discount is applied. More information across the forum suggests that it is applied to the data allotment [i.e. 1GB ($50), 2GB ($60), etc]. The shame part is when Verizon was developing the new data share plans to match their minute share and text share legacy behavior, they undoubtedly realized the $40 price point of a smartphone was going to make each MDN access ripe for the discount under the terms of most ECPD contract terminology - unlike the old $9.99 share MDN's. In fact, if I added two smartphones to my existing two, I would have ended up paying slightly less than I do now.
Verizon knew this couldn't occur so they did the shift onto a less impacting source such as the data portion. Let's face it, it's much better for them to allow 20% off of, let's say $60 shared data, than 4 MDN lines at $160 total. On one hand, people might say they are losing their hat, but we all know Verizon will never do that as long as it maintains control. I've watched them carefully over the years and they are very good at financial business and strategy. They always drive the plans to the saturation points, and then recalculate with another offering, highlighting a perceived "want" benefit at a slightly higher cost. This increasing revenue stream has allowed them to build their network out very well and without much debt.
I'm about ready to go back to the can and string.
Good question mdram4x4! I know the Share Everything plans are new, but I do have answers! Business discounts for Share Everything plans will be available to the Monthly Account Access charge (Shared Data portion) that meets the minimum of $34.99. Monthly Line Access charges are not eligible for business discounts. Also, line features are eligible for business discounts if the feature meets the minimum of $24.99. I hope this settles any questions you or others have regarding business discounting. Thanks!AnthonyTa_VZWVZW SupportFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport

Since your cheapest data portion is $50 why even bother to say you need to have a $34.99 minimum. Everyone will be eligible for the discount. Unless Verizon has some secret under $34.99 data portion for Share Everything you're not telling us about.
Unless you mean the minimum you pay for shared data is $34.99 regardless of how much a discount you are entitled to.
...which means for me... based on my current plans with 8 basic phones and one mobile hotspot... my monthly bills INCREASE by $22.00 for the same service. I lose 66% of my corporate discount. I guess I am going to have to make these phones last for a few years longer and/or change carriers...
I have left your service before because of stupid phone tricks like this. Unfortunately, when I find a carrier that I am happy with, you buy them out and I get stuck with this junk again. Three times in 12 years (GTE Wireless, Airtouch, Alltel)... Not happy.
