Is it just me or do Verizon prices seem WAY too high?
I know you pay for the quality of service you get and I've always been happy with Verizon's services but in order to have a smartphone (which is the norm for most people now a days) with the lowest calling plan, lowest texting plan (besides pay as you go which costs an arm and a leg) & the lowest data plan available for my phone (& even offered through Verizon) that monthly bill is $79.98. Now lets add the taxes in and I'm well around $95-$100!
The reason I feel the need to speak up is because I'm moving and have the pleasure of having Fios available in my area. The monthly fee for me to have Fios (including over 200+ HD channels plus very fast internet speeds of DL 25 / UL 25) is around $110 a month; almost the same price I am paying to have a cell phone! This just doesn't make sense to me.
I'm sorry but almost everyone has a smartphone; having a Verizon representative ask me if I have a phone that is not a smartphone to use so I can take the data-plan off of my account to lower it sounds ridiculous. Verizon is one of the top leaders to push new technology and new equipment - but you have to make it at prices affordable for people who really want it. For people who want new phones and can't upgrade you require $600-$700 for a new phone. Lets hope you don't lose it or break it because unless you have protection the DAY you sign up for new service your basically screwed. My phone broke after a year and since I didn't sign up for protection (which is 7 dollars a month, lets make that bill be $102-$107 a month now!) I had to find a replacement/used phone from a private buyer since paying the full price of a new phone is ridiculous and I can not upgrade till 01/01/13. Although now I see where Verizon is offering customers the ability to add protection to their phone AFTER signup, but still there is another $7 dollars to get you for (and thats only for a smartphone, not your other devices such as tablets).
I'm hoping that a Verizon representative reads this and considers adding better pricing options for customers. Why not offer an unlimited plan at a reasonable price? Why are we required to have a certain "minutes" plan? I have 450 minutes on my calling plan (which doesn't include nights and weekends) and I use probably 200 of those minutes. Why not offer lower minute plans or hardly any at all for the big "texters/data" users?
Go ahead and say it...why not switch to a different carrier if I have so much to talk about? Think about the people who get locked into 2, 3 or even 4 year contracts and in order TO leave they have to pay almost $350 depending on how early the cancellation is to cancel. With the economy now a days and so many people having credit issues that is also not an option.
THINK OF THE LITTLE PEOPLE!
