How do I block all SMS & MMS on my device?

How do I block all incoming SMS and MMS messages to my device? I know I can use the my verizon app to "block" up to 5 numbers temporarily but I am looking to block every text and MMS forever. I now use Google voice for this functionality because it is free. I can't get MMS thru GV but because I have unlimited data I just get those types of messages by email.

I cancelled my verizon text plan and I'm tired of getting texts from spammers that cost me $0.20. Hopefully the "fix" works for the Verizon iPhone4 (my wife's phone) too

You would have to do this through Verizon, and I don't think they have any options to fully block all texts. Even if there was a way to block them from going to your phone, you would still get the charge as soon as they went into Verizon's system.

Actually, if you *611[Send], you can ask Customer Service to block all text messaging. It is also possible to block only Premium SMS or MMS for example.

My wife and I no longer use the "native" text messaging application on our phones. Because of this we have canceled our texting (250 messages each per month) and now use Google Voice (both have unlimited data plans) for sending and receiving texts. I didn't want to pay for texts, why would I want to pay for a service to block them? Isn't there a way to stop my, and my wife's, phones from receiving texts?
