My phone is due for an upgrade. Can I get the upgrade and give it to my son since he is not due till 2010?

Yes, but do the upgrade on your number. When you get the new phone, do the normal activation. After that is done, call Verizon and switch numbers on your phone and your son's phone.

You're right! The new phone will be activated with his number, so all he needs to do is get his son's number put on the new phone and put his number back on the phone that he was already using.

how about this for an option call customer care and ask to do an alternate upgrade they will use the eligability of the fathers line and the phone will automatically become active on the sons line.

Once you receive the phone in the mail you should be able to go to My Verizon, click the Activate Phone link and you should be able to pick which line you activate the phone on and just input the EIN number or whatever it is called.
