As of about 1:35 yesterday afternoon I can no longer send or receive texts on my Droid Pro. Outgoing just stay stuck in unsent mode; incoming never make it. (Calls seem to be fine but I do have a stuck voicemail indicator - I have no new messages but the notification icon will not go away.)
Steps I've taken to correct the problem include 1) rebooting, 2) removing battery, 3) *228.
If I send an email from my laptop to mynumber@vtext.com it never arrives at my phone, however I have not received a bounce yet, either.
If I visit vtext.com and try to send a text from there it immediately is rejected with the error "Delivery to this destination failed due to invalid address." If I use that same interface to send a text to any other line on my account (there are five) it is successfully delivered to the handsets immediately; ditto another VZW number not on my account. If I attempt from vtext.com to a known landline, I get an "Undeliverable" error, as I should. The point being that I can't generate that 'invalid address' error on ANY other number other than my own. I can't even get a delivery attempt to my own number, it immediately tells me the number is invalid, whether my phone is powered up or not.
Clearly, it's a problem with my number in VZW's network, no?
At that point (about 4 PM) I finally called 611. Spent 10 minutes with a friendly first-tier CSR as she went through the script to prove I'd tried everything. Got moved up the chain to tech support. Heh. This guy did little more than run a test and tell me there's nothing wrong on VZW's end and texting is not blocked. He would not address the vtext.com error message other than to call it a coincidence. Really? A coincidence that your own system is saying my number is invalid, all while I can't send/receive texts, and it's unrelated?! Friendly enough guy but very insistent that the problem is not VZW's. I pushed and pushed until finally he agreed to open a ticket but it was quite obvious from his dubious tone and comments that he felt it would be a waste of time. Well then how else do you expect the problem to get solved? Was a very unsatisfactory call, which has not previously happened to me with Verizon; on the rare occasions I've called tech support over the years, the service has been above average.
At this point I've heard absolutely nothing and the problem persists. If there's a tech monitoring this forum that can look into this, I'd greatly appreciate it as I have little confidence the guy on the phone did anything more than take a cursory look and I can imagine what the ticket comments said. Ticket is <Deleted> .
Happy New Year!
