I used one of my family plan lines to upgrade to the iPhone 5 at a discounted rate. However, I don't want to activate the iPhone on the line that was used to purchase it. When I went through the pre-order process, I choose the line I wanted to actually upgrade, but the email confirmation doesn't list this line, nor does the website show that the line has a pending upgrade to activate. Rather, all signs point to the original line being the one that is now upgraded. What do I need to do so that when my iPhone 5 arrives I can activate it on an alternate line within the same family plan? Preferably, without deactivating any of my other lines.
When the iPhone 4 came out, there were several people who did the same thing & purchased the iPhone for another line on the account. Verizon provided these instructions for how to then activate your iPhone on the alternate line. Will it be the same for the iPhone 5 and require the deactivation of the line that purchased the upgrade? Since iPhone activation can now happen via wireless network, I'm hoping that the activation steps have changed.
I'm hoping that when the iPhone 5 arrives, it will ask me at some point during activation which line I would like to activate it on; however, I have not seen any confirmation that this is the case. I don't want to deactivate a line if I don't have to.
TL;DR -- Will I be asked which number I'd like the iPhone 5 tied to during activation? Source?
