Expected Ship Date vs. Actual Ship Date

Everytime I do a status check on my order, it shows the Expected Ship Date of Friday 9/21/12 yet I keep hearing people talk about Receiving their iP5 on that day.

Has anyone seen it say that it would be received by Friday the 21st or do they all say Shipping ON the 21st?

If your date says 21 you should get it the 21. I phones haven't shipped yet

Seems like simple English to me... Expected Ship Date means Expected ship date, Not Expected Delivery Date.

How do you figure, other than your opinion, it means otherwise?

When I pre-ordered mine online, it said "Delivery by 9/21" highlighted in bright yellow under the phone.

As did mine.

When I ordered mine online, it said delivery by 9/21/12.

But after I ordered it and checked my order status, it now states Expected Delivery Date of 9/21/12 each & everytime I check the status.

Same thing happened last year. During the order process of my 4S last year it said Deliver by date 10/14. Then a few days later when I could actually check my order status, it said Expected Ship Date 10/14. CSR was no help. So I just waited it out, and Fed Ex was at my door on 10/14 with my phone.

Don't sweat it. You will get it Friday.

I was nervous because mine said the same thing. While ordering (about 10:30AM EST), it said DELIVERY by 9/21 in red text/yellow highlight. I read it like 10 times to make sure it said delivery and not ship on 9/21. Well my email order confirmation says delivery by 9/26 and I about had a cow. When I check the order status through Verizon's website, it says expected ship date 9/21. I talked with an online agent and asked them if that meant it would ship on 9/21 or deliver on 9/21 and he said it means I would have it on 9/21. Here's a line from the chat transcript:

"When that ship date, That means it will be delivered on that date, It will be actually shipped a couple days before that and receive that day on the 21st."

I think he meant "with that ship date" not "when" that ship date.

Has everyone received their e-mail confirmation? I pre-ordered around 5:10 a.m. Eastern time on the 14th on Verizon Wireless' website. Yes, it did say deliver by 9/21 when I placed the order. It also said that it may take up to 24 hours for my e-mail confirmation due to high volumes, yet I have still NOT received it. Has this happened to anyone else? I did write down the order confirmation number and when I check the status it does say that my order has been received and is in process with an expected shipping date of 9/21.

Yep, same.

Ordered 8am EST 14th and still no email.

I have talked to 2 reps and both said I should receive an email within an hour....nothin!

I know they are swamped, no doubt! But as a new customer as I'm sure many are right now this is not the way to start a business relationship.

Don't sweat it. If the confirmation number shows a status, you are in. Plus, a Verizon rep indicated that receipt should be the 21st or the day before.

I just checked with an online Verizon chat rep. Expected ship date is exactly that...ship date, not received by date. She said it should be received in 2-3 days from when it's shipped (on 9/21).

Keep in mind those chat reps are not in this country and given a list of basic responses
