So basically, I want to buy a droid/droid eris, except my 2 year contract doesn't run out for another year or so. Can I still buy it under the lost/stolen/broken deal even if I have insurance?
If you are on a multi-line plan (family plan) and your current phone is the primary phone, you can upgrde at a discount at 1 year...
Your other option, of course, would be to purchase the Eris at full retail price, and sell your storm to recoupe part of the money. Before you do that, I would suggest contacting Verizon to make sure they will allow you to actually sell the Storm and that it won't show up in their database as still in contract. I would think if you purchaed the Eris out-right, and since both require the $30/month data plans, that they would be willing to switch the "contract requirements" to the Eris to "free up" the Storm... It makes sense to me, but then again, they might not be setup to actually do that. Call and ask or you might be stuck unable to sell the storm. I'm sure there is a way to do this and recoupe most of the difference between the retail and the subsidized price of the phone.
