Droid Eris error messages when texting

Ok, my bf and I just got Droid Eris's and he is the main person that I text message. I have no issues sending him a message when I compose a new one, but every time I try and just reply back to him I keep receiving an error message that tells me I need to enter an area code. Thing is that his phone number is in my phone with the area code. He has no issues with this, and I also only have this issue when texting him. I can reply back to everyone else just fine.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Any solutions?

It is really driving me up the wall that i have to compose a new message to him every single time!

What is the exact format that you have his number programmed in your phone? Try deleting his number then you can either add it back after he sends you a message directly from the menu on the message content or you can add his number back in the phone book in this format: 1-000-123-4567 or 000-123-4567.

I have the EXACT same problem. It does not matter how I have entered the phone number (xxx) xxx-xxxx or xxx-xxx-xxxx, it still throws that error ONLY when I reply, not when I compose a new message. It is VERY frustrating.
