Cannot drag down to unlock or answer calls after Eris update

Yesterday (12/11) I installed the Droid software update (ROM:1.16.605.1/Radio:2.32.40.11.09). Now I can no longer unlock my screen by dragging down on the lock screen. I can still access the phone by clicking Menu. However, I CANNOT ANSWER PHONE CALLS because this requires I drag down when a call is coming in. Is anyone else experiencing this side effect of the update? It found it quite frustrating that my "smart" phone is now in a state that cannot receive calls. I'd feel better if this were a known issue that was being addressed quickly. Thanks.

Same here. After the update, I can no longer drag down to unlock my phone. If you click on the screen when it's locked, it still says "Drag down or press menu to unlock", but dragging down no longer works. So it's essentially lying to me. What a **bleep** update.

EDIT: GOT IT!!!! They "fixed it". You can no longer drag down by starting anywhere on the screen, at the top for example as I imagine that's what most people do. You MUST drag the grey bar now. This is both good and bad. It's bad because the old way was MUCH faster. But it's good because the new way is more secure and less prone to accidental unlocks leading to pocket dials. That actually happened to me alot. The phone would unlock while I was sliding it into my pocket, that will no longer happen.

You can always press the answer button on the lower left corner. I had to do this all the time with my Hero. I know, it doesn't help make it "right" but it's an option for you.

It always seemed to me, on my Hero, that the problem was worst if the phone had been "sleeping" for an extended period of time. If I had just finished a phone call and the screen had not blanked out again before a 2nd call came in, the drag-down-to-answer always seemed to work fine.

have to thank you for that tip. i could not for the life of me figure that out, however i love that idea. this update however is a little odd as i don't remember being able to push menu to have it jump right in to the desktop with out sliding down....kinda defeats the whole purpose of the new slide spot on the lock screen.

What the[edit] kinda update is this verizon?? Thats great you fixed a bunch of bugs and whatever other nonsense, but you have still neglected to provide any support or fix for the 'previously' alltel customers who have switched to the htc droid eris. I know that you all know what I'm talking about....the tiny little gps problems?? Ya know....all those really cool location based features/services that this phone is kinda built around? Hmmm well it would be nice to use these but seeing as how the network(Verizon) STILL thinks I'm in Rapti, India instead of SW Florida it looks like I am still gonna miss out on a good portion of my phones functionality while still paying rates for a fully functioning phone.

Oh ya almost forgot, this update that I did just receive really doesn't make much sense to me in regards to the lockscreen now having to be dragged down from the smaller horizontal grey bar is you can also just touch the 'menu' button and achieve the same purpose. i never had any pocket unlocking issues before, but it certainly seems like it will be MORE frequent now, thanks again!

You were always able to press the menu button to unlock the phone. It's always said "Drag down or press menu to unlock".

I think it was always intended to pull down from the grey bar... hence the "virtual" grip dots on the left and right of said bar.

I use the menu button to unlock anyhow... much easy then dragging across the screen either way.

Whew, thanks for the information. I was getting a little upset that I was no longer able to unlock my screen by rolling my finger down the screen. Otherwise I haven't seen anything different with this update, but will mess around with it today.

This was reported "Solved" - but I am still having problems!!!! Twice today after I have hung up from a phone call, the screen has locked up. I can't pull down the grey bar or enter through the menu button. The buttons are all dead except for lighting up the screen. If I let it sit for a few minutes, then I can lower the grey bar again! Has anyone else had this problem?

I just got an Eris and I am having this problem. Typically when coming back from sleep. I've missed 4 calls due to this and I'm very tempted to return the phone which sucks, cause I love it.

I am also having this problem. When my phone is "asleep" all of my calls are going to voice mail. I cannot swipe the screen or use the red or green buttons. This has only been an issue since the great update.
