How can I switch back to my old plan? I hate the share everything data Plan

I want to revert back to my old phone plan. Share everything data plan is 100.00 more expensive than my old phone plan was when I had each line individually controlled.

I can't afford to pay such a huge bill every month. It's a bit ridiculous specially when Line holders don't know what share everything means!

Is there a way I can go back to NOT sharing everything?

I don't believe customers (existing ones who switched) can go back to the Nationwide family plan after switching to a Share Everything plan.

You could educate the individual line holders about the Share Everything plan. If they can't follow the guidelines for data usage you set for them, THEY can pay the extra charges THEY incur and YOU can pay for what YOU use. Seems simple enough.

Otherwise, they could take their lines and start their own accounts.

There is a possibility of going back, if it is within 60 days of the change. If it is, tell them to fill out the form!!! And stay on them, they like to FORGET while the time is legitimate, then remember when it is too late.

You might have more chances of getting it changed if you are within 14 days of the changes which coincides with the return policy as well.

What they tell you is 14 days. What the ACTUAL policy is, that is only customer initiated, not representative initiated, is that it is 60 days and does not include in most cases the grandfathered unlimited data plan. I work somewhere where.. well I know policy.

Is it written down anywhere that you can provide a link to? Quite a difference between 14 days and 60 days to get a change effected. And you post is confusing whether the customer or the representative has 14 or 60 days and you CAN go back to a family plan from the Share Everything??

I am happy to see the post on being unhappy with the share everything plans. I have been paying full price or buying phones on auctions to avoid upgrading and contract extensions. I have been with Verizon since 1997, and am disappointed in how loyal customers are being tossed aside now. The fact that we have been there providing a long standing history of loyalty and promoting our family and friends to be with verizon to enhance our in network connections has paid verizon big $$$$ (billions). You got to give them credit on their evil plan to pull us all in as loyal customers and then drop the bomb on every grandfathered customer who upgrades their phone that you will now pay more, get less, can't get top device options anymore and ...Oh Yea, thanks for making verizon wireless #1 guys!!! I am stuck with verizon due to rural location.. and I know the services is the best out there for a fact. We built their network .. we built their bank accounts... and now, that the economy is at the worst its been in the last 20 plus years... verizon turns their hurting bank accounts .. over to their customers to fix. Verizon Wireless we are all suffering in this plummeting economy and I most certainly hope your evil plan blows up in your face!!!!

Enough with the "loyal" customer talk please. If one has been a customer for 15 years I would hope it's because they are satisfied with the service and pricing etc they get from said company not just because they are a "loyal" to them. Being "loyal" means staying even during bad situations. Anyone that would stay with a company for years despite be unsatisfied with service, pricing etc just out of "loyalty" isn't too bright in my book. So really NO ONE stays out of "loyalty".

Customers under old pricing can stay on old pricing. Only NEW customers have to take Share Everything. And since they are NEW they can't be "loyal" can they since you imply a "loyal" customer is long term customer. No one is being tossed aside. If Verizon pricing and plans are so bad how come they gained more customers in the last 2 quarters than at&t, Sprint and T-mobile did ALL YEAR combined?

I wish I knew the answer to that one myself. These share plans are AWFUL. $30-$50 jumps in monthly cost, paltry data allowances compared to the old plans, who in their right mind would voluntarily take these I can't imagine. But I guess enough do to back up the numbers, but the fact is, statistics can be used to deodorize anything that otherwise stinks the way these plans currently do.

Could it possibly be because the vast majority(95%) of Verizon customers use LESS THAN 2 GB of data/month and that an unlimited data plan is overkill? For me, that is exactly the case.

I am one of those customer. Yes when I switched to Share Everything, my monthly cost jumped ~$25/month. However, if I would have stayed with my old plan and made the same changes, my monthly cost would have jumped $60/month. So in essence, I am saving $35/month by being on the Share Everything plan.

You ask how I did this? Well, I had 2 smartphones with unlimited data & 2 basic phones. Plan was Nationwide Talk & Text 1400 minute plan. I was paying ~ 210/month for everything including taxes/fees.

I switched to Share Everything with 4 smartphones and a 2GB shared data pool and am now paying $234/month. Yes, my monthly bill DID increase, but NOT by the $60 it would have increased had I made the same switch from 2 smartphones/2 basic phones to 4 smartphones. I would have had to add 2 $30 data plans for the 2 new smartphones for a total increase of $60 dollars instead of the $25 increase I had to pay by switching to the Share Everything plan.

Other than the name of the plan, my usage habits HAVE NOT CHANGED AT ALL. I still use the same amount of data I used prior to the switch, so those "paltry data allowances compared to the old plans" aren't as big an obstacle for some as others.

Mind you, some use their data in different ways than others and you should ALWAYS choose the best plan for YOUR situation. If you NEED to keep unlimited data, Verizon offers methods for doing so and by all means you should do so if it suits your needs. However, not everyone needs unlimited data and are quite happy with those "paltry data allowances". It was the high price of "forced individual data plans with unrealistically high data allowances" which kept me from switching to all smartphones long ago.

I've been a customer for Verizon wireless since 1990's I've never had problems with their services or customer service aid. If anything for me they are still the most professional compared to other companies I've dealt with.

I merely am not enjoying the Share Everything data plan. Mostly its causing me lots of problems. Since others (regardless of how many times have been told) have little to no consideration of the amount of money it is costing me in overages. I am generally a nice person and don't request that they pay me for the overages. Mostly because they aid me to pay other household bills. I just wanted to revert back to my old plan seeing as how it was indeed way cheaper than what it is now.

If there is no way it's ok I will have to simply suck it up for one more year until it is time to "re-new" the contract. This way I can give the person their own individual line and not have to worry about continuing to pay overages caused by another person.

I am rather appreciative of the responses. But please do not argue or insult each other in a topic that others will come to try and find answers to their questions. It is unprofessional and generally affects the way others think. They may deem it unhelpful to their situation.

Actually, it is not necessary to wait 1 more year before you can give the person their own individual line. A line can be separated from an account at any time simply by performing an AOL(assumption of liability). The individual in question just has to agree to become the person responsible for the line. This can be done at any Verizon corporate store. I am unsure if you can perform this task over the phone. If the person in question has little/no credit history, a security deposit may be required. Of course, the person in question would have to meet the age requirements in order to enter into such an agreement.

Ok here's an example 2 smartphones that use few minutes but need unlimited texting.

OLD pricing 700 minutes unlimited texting two 2 GB data plans = $160

Share Everything with 4 GB data = $150.

In fact under Share Everything for the same $160 they could get 6 GB. Why WOULDN'T you switch?

Example 2: four smartphones use between 800-1200 minutes a month total. Needs unlimited texing. Each phone uses less than 300 MB of data per month.

Old pricing 1400 minute plan unlimited texting four 2GB data plans =$260

Share Everything with 2 GB data = $220

Once again why wouldn't they switch?

Most of the complaints seem to come from people that have unlimited data and think that everyone has it too. So sure if you're going from unlimited data to Share Everything and you actually need it then sure it's not a good deal. The fact is less than 20% of Verizon customers have unlimited data. And many of those that do use well under 2 GB but don't know it.

I had already considered doing that. However upon further investigation I discovered it will not be an answer to my problem as it will extend my contract and I just want to be done with it so I can remove this person without having to incur any further fees for terminating a line or without having to extend a contract. Yes I read the fine print before I took any actions . Lol its why I came here to ask in the first place if there was a way to just switch back. Separation of Lines otherwise known as (AOL) was the second thing I looked at after suspension but she has to pay a large down payment.

And since I'm out of options I figured I'll just hold out for the one year that is left. And just have her switch to pre-paid

Actually each line has it's own contract. YOUR contract would not be affected in the least. If you suspend a line you have 2 options. Keep paying the monthly fee and the contact for that line will end on time. Suspend the line without paying the monthly fee and the contract for that line will increased by the amount of time of time you suspend the line for.

Maybe this could work? Go to a public and very busy Verizon service center/store, and ask to return the upgraded phone/phones or pay full price for it to be swtiched back to your previous plan. If they do not, cause a big loud public fuss?

Have you tried that?

I'm curious, does the person in question pay you for their line?

If so, just pass the cost for overages over to this person. Or increase the amount of data on your allowance and pass the cost for this increase over to this person. Unless this person knows there is a cost commensurate to the amount of data they use, WHY would they curtail their use or at least try to economize their use by using WiFi when and where available.

Why should YOU eat the overages caused by this person. If you have an allowance of 4GB and this person uses more than 2 GB and you incur an overage, pass on the overage to this person. Then give the person a choice to continue paying for overages or pay for an increase in allowance.

If the person does NOT pay you for their line, choose the allowance you feel is appropriate. Then when/if the other person gets close to their half of that allowance, suspend the other line(with billing) so they do not cause you to incur overages.

This will not lengthen the contract on your or the other line. It will also show the other person there is a cost associated with their usage, even though they are not actually paying that cost.

You need to price shop, every carrier has a gimmick. Some give you the data, but restrict your minutes, or visa versa. Verizon gimmick is now all the texting/minutes you can use, just you pay extra for data. My contract ends in two days, I just did my research, nobody can beat my current, and it is current, not an old plan, pricing. Closest one was 30.00 more a month for the minutes I need and data.
