Does anyone know, or want to take an educated guess? Also, would a tablet be eligible for double data? Thanks in advance!!
I don't think you will be happy with the answer.
IF they offer double data again, it will only be on a currently offered data plan(i.e. Share Everything plan), not one of the legacy data plans which are no longer being offered to all customers.
IF double data is offered again, tablets would be eligible since they are one of the items you can add to a Share Everything plan and you would not be able to exclude only SOME of the devices on a plan which share a pool of data.
I recently corresponded with a Verizon Executive Relations team member (name omitted for privacy; don't want to get dinged by the mods) and asked him this very question. He said:
"Currently, we do not have any double the data promotions. The last one was during the holidays. We may have some in the near future."
Of course "may have some in the near future" could mean anything from "definitely will but haven't announced it yet" to "no plans whatsoever, but I don't want to sound negative"...sounds more like the former to me, but who knows?
Sorry, it's as close to an answer as you're likely to get until an official announcement.
Thanks for the info! I guess the only thing to do is keep checking periodically, and cross our fingers. I read something about Verizon taking a hit from the Hurricane Sandy damage, so maybe they'll do double data sooner rather than later in hopes of getting new subscribers and making more money...
@km145Thank you for bringing this concern to the attention of the forum. We truly appreciate your concern. We don't have plans slated for a release of the double data promotion. I suggest visiting VZW news for all the latest news. I promise you'll enjoy.http://bit.ly/n5snpq YosefT_VZWVZW SupportFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Just a hunch but I don't think we will see it again with these new plans.
I can see it if they offer it to customers on old plans as a way to move to to Share Everything. Since they are already at 23% in the first 6 months of Share Everything I don't think they feel it's something they need to do now. Now if that rate slows down by a lot I can see them doing it since the plan of course is to eventually get everyone on Share Everything.
They only had a double data promo on 3G pre-paid this past holiday season. And the new plans offered after the promo ended are "better" than the promo was. (Better is a relative term when it comes to VZW pricing.) The reason we didn't get a Double Data promo on the SEP over the holidays? Investors don't like promotions, they ding the bottom line too much, and were pleased VZW didn't offer one this year. Can't quote the source for this off the top of my head, (wish I could remember where I read it) but it's not surprising, considering that Verizon's CFO sold the SEP to the investors labeling them as "Profit Generating Engines."
