I've got an e-mail listed in my inbox that won't delete. When I try to open it, it won't open. It's like it doesn't exist but it still shows up in my inbox. It's annoying. Any ideas?

I have the same thing. My "phantom" email is completely blank except for a date of 12/21/1969. I can't open it or delete it. I agree, it is annoying.
I tried pressing and holding the message, then clicking "Delete" and it says "Message Deleted", but there it is...
Try rebooting or pulling the battery first. If it's still there after that then...
Is this in your Gmail account or a regular email account?
If it's Gmail does it show up in your inbox when viewed from a PC? If so, try to delete it there.
If it's from the other email client you might try the following:
From the home screen try pressing Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Menu > Filter > All; scroll to "Email" and select. From here you can try "Clear Data" (which I believe will delete all of your emails so back up any folders that are syncing before you do this, I'm not sure if it will actually delete them from you email server or not, but better safe than sorry) or "Clear Cache". The "Clear Cache" may fix your problem.
You could also try to delete the account from the mail application itself and then add it back.

I have three emails from January that wont delete.
I can mark them and press Delete and it shows "Messages Deleted" but they are still there.
The same thing happens if I long press on one of the three email messages and choose delete.
If I mark them and choose either "Add star" or "Mark Read" the email application crashes with an error:
"The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
My email app is tied to Gmail.
My Gmail app does not show these three phantom emails, nor does Gmail when viewed from a PC.
I have force closed the app, reboot the phone, removed the battery, still shows those three.
If I try to click on one of the three emails, trying to open it, either the screen wipes to the left then back to the right, or nothing happens at all. Either case the email never opens.
Any ideas?
