Why am I forced to have an app that I do not want?

I have no problem with apps that just sit there and at the worst take up a tiny bit of memory but... I really got to looking at my data usage recently and discovered that I had an unused app burning up data! I have never opened, used, or have any intention of using this app but, it is my 3rd or 4th highest (background) data usage on my phone?!! Due to a recent upgrade I have now been kicked out of the unlimited data plan so this discovery really concerns me. I have no use whatsoever for this ESPN scorecard on my phone but I have no way to disable its data usage? Some one please help me understand why we pay so much money for devices and services just to get forced into using up our data for things we didn't want in the first place.

I understand your concerns regarding an application running in the background. I would be concerned too! Let's disable this application to prevent any unwanted activity on your phone. Please provide your phone model and software version, and we'll provide options to disable the culprit application.

I have the LG spectrum. The app in question is the ESPN scorecenter. I would appreciate any and all help.

Try this Go into your Settings Follow down to App's tap to go in Find the All Column you may have to scroll to get to it most likely you will see Downloaded First. Followed by Internal then Running then All). Once there scroll up till you come to the ESPN App then Tap to Go in.. Once in you will see Uninstall if it's uninstallable do that if you can Disable it Do that and it shouldn't cease the the running in the Background..

One app that can help tell you what is running and what is at idle is System Panel app i have been using this app for 3 years had it in 3 different phone it work great shows allot that you would want to Know.. check it out in Goggles PlayStore.. b33

I appreciate your suggestions but this is a factory installed application that can not be removed or disabled by ordinary means. I wish it were as easy as going into settings and disabling/uninstalling.
