Eris / Texting Question

New to the Eris but my text messages are coming through in two and sometimes three different messages. Is there a way to correct this? It is really annoying.

If not mistaken, any texts to or from a non-verizon phone are limited to 160 characters. If they're longer than that, they'll automatically split it into multiple parts of 160 or less.

These are Verizon phones and still are splitting into 2... any ideas??

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that the 160-character limit applied to both Verizon and non-Verizon phones. Both my boss and I are with Verizon. When we exchange texts, our messages that are larger than 160 characters get split into two messages. Always.

Check your messages' length (yes, that means counting the characters). If they are under the 160 number, report back here with that info. There could be a message size limit feature in your SMS app that is set ridiculously low, as well.

Hmmm, interesting. I thought it was a non-Verizon thing because when I send a lengthy text to someone non-Verizon, I get back a free text message from Verizon telling me that "texts over 160 characters in length sent to a non-Verizon phone will be split automatically"...or something along those lines. Just never encountered it when sending to a Verizon phone, but may never have sent one that long to a Verizon phone, so you may be right. Also, if counting characters, I believe even spaces count as characters.
