Problem w/drag-down bar

I've had my Eris almost two months, and had this problem several times in the last couple of weeks...I can't drag the bar down to enter the security code to wake the phone from sleep mode, rendering the device totally useless. Usually it just snapped out of it after a while but today I haven't been able to use the phone since this morning. Anyone else had this experience, and what do you do?

Mine froze up once where I couldn't drag the bar down. Probably not much help, but the only way I got out of it was by keeping my finger on the drag down bar for a long time and gradually forcing it down. It took a while. I don't really have a fix for it, though. It's one of several issues that make me consider returning the eris.

I know after the last OTA update you now have to touch the bar and pull down, before you could touch any part of the screen and pull down. Also, you can always just touch 'menu' to get past the security screen.
