If I were to purchase a phone, outside of the verizon store, would i be able to still sign up for a verizon plan? Would they charge me a fee if it is possible?
The possible answers/suggestions might depend on where you are considering purchasing the device from and if you are purchasing it at the two year contract price.
I would be purchasing the phone from an online retailer similar to amazon, not on a contract, just a new phone for the full price (Sales\discounts so not technically at full price which is why i would prefer to purchase the phone else where)
As long as it's compatible with Verizon's network then yes, you would be able to use it and sign up for a Verizon plan. And no, you wouldn't be charged for bringing your own phone.
If you don't already have an I with Verizon Wireless or you are adding a line to use this phone on then you will be charged an activation fee to open the account or add a line to your existing account.
If you are planning to switch one of your current phones with this new phone, then you won't be charged an upgrade fee since this would be considered a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) scenario.
Awesome! thanks a bunch for the quick and informative responses! I am actually very impressed that Verizon has set up forums like these where existing or potential customers can get their questions answered.
