What does it mean when I get the 1x beside the service bar and why is the service so bad? What does LTE mean? Why does it bounce back and forth from 1X to LTE to 3G?
The symbol for 1x is for the 2G voice and data network. It is the oldest and slowest network used by Verizon Wireless.
The 3G network is the next step in the network speed available.
LTE is the 4G LTE network added to network options starting at the end of 2010.
The bounce between networks could be caused by the building structure restricting the signal from reaching your phone. It could also be network congestion like too many people connecting to the network at the same time on the same tower.
