Hello, I have an upgrade question. My family is currently on an old Nationwide Talk 700 plan, four basic phones. 3 of the lines have no data and the 4th has the Pay-Per data plan. I want to upgrade one of the phones to a smartphone. I know I need a data plan for that phone, so my question is this: do I simply add a data plan to that line (like $30 per month for 2GB or $50 per month for 5GB)? And then "switch device" from the basic phone to a new smart phone? The phone is eligible for an upgrade, but I would imagine that upgrading it to a smartphone through Verizon would require me to switch to the Share Everything plan. So, if I understand this right, I can add the data plan to that line, buy the phone myself retail and "switch device" and thus keep the Nationwide 700 plan. Right?
Now I know you're probably going to recommend switching to the Share Everything plan, so let me ask this. Our current bill averages around $115 per month for four basic phones. If we change to 3 phones and 1 smartphone with say 2GB a month on a Share Everything plan, would the new bill be $190 ($30+$30+$30+$40+$60)? Because if I'm reading it right, all phones would need to be switched to Share Everything, not just the smartphone.
