I plan on canceling my Verizon Wireless service, and porting my number to another carrier. I'd like to port as close as possible to the end of my billing cycle, so I'm paying for the least amount of unused Verizon service. But I have some questions about my bill, cause I'm a little confused.
My billing cycle ends on the 7th of every month. I had it set up for auto payment, which occurred on the 27th of every month. I just turned off auto-payment, because I'm not sure if this new bill is for my current cycle or for my next cycle? I was told and have read that we're always billed in advance for the following month's service. Is that correct? So I'm assuming this new bill is for a next month's service which I don't want? So, I shouldn't have to pay this bill as long as I'm canceling service before August 7th. Correct?
To make matters even more confusing, the statement for this new bill say Jun 8th to July 7th, with a due date of August 2nd. Why would it have those dates if it was already paid in advance?
All I want to do is quit Verizon with the least amount of unused days of service. If I'm paying a month in advance, then I want to use as many of those days as possible before I quit, because Verizon doesn't prorate.
PS - I'm already aware that after I quit, I'm still responsible for ETF and overage fees. Luckily I have never had gone over.
