Any experiences with converting to tmobile

I have been thinking about switching over to T-Mobile in order to finally get a usable phone (RAZR battery life was awful from day one). I also want a little bit better customer service in the process and I have been hearing good things about T-Mobile. My contract is. Up right now and I am stuck with a phone that is unusable without a charger and I don't want to lose my unlimited data, nor do I want to spend $400+ on a phone.

I also recently got a corner of my screen cracks, so I obviously need something new. When I upgraded from a dummy phone years back, I mentioned that my last name has been spelled wrong for years and that I wanted insurance on my new phone. Not only did she not correct my name, but I found out after the fact that insurance was never applied (I could sure use it now). In other words, I'm not too happy with the customer service, especially now that I wanting something to replace this cracked screen.

Has anyone had luck converting to tmobile? What are the speeds like? How is the customer service(will they spell my name right and apply insurance when I ask, haha) ? What are your good / bad experiences?

Much smaller network, they cut 3400 call center jobs, with plans to cut even more this year.. I doubt their customer service is what it use to be.

Some cities you won't even notice a difference, if you're in a major city it's a coin flip, small cities I wouldn't do it.

Looks like you lucked out on insurance, you could have been paying $$$ every month. You can change the name online too

Yeah, but if the insurance was applied, I could at least get some kind of replacement for my razor's cracked screen. Even if I was paying for a insurance over the past few years, it would still be cheaper than buying a used phone on Craigslist in order to keep my unlimited data..

Hello All,

I have been using smart phones since they have come out. Have tried plans with At&T, T-Mobile, Verizon but not Sprint. I have came back to Verizon from T-Mobile. Here are the reasons:

1. Call Echo is terrible. My wife's phone echo's real bad when she calls me from work, 32 miles away here in the Detroit Area.

2. My friends phone with Sprint also complained about the echo, both on my phone and my wife's. We both have brand new LG-G2 phones that we like a lot. They are extremely fast.

3. Another friend, who has AT&T was calling me just 15 miles away and we dropped his call twice. His service in our area is excellent but I guess mine with T-Mobile is not. We live just 35 miles south of Detroit in Michigan. The T-Mobile reps said to reboot the phone. Now, they are aware of this problem and they have instructed their customer care reps to tell us to reboot the phone to try and get another signal as the first one was bad (echo). Or worse, dropped call.

So let your conscience be your guide. Most all major carriers have many faults but Verizon is probably a lot better than most. We all have horror stories about our cell phones but again, Verizon has the coverage and we never in 6 yrs ever had an echo with Verizon and we never lost a call. That's a pretty good track record.

You can email me and I will be more than happy to go into more detail. But because I'm switching back to Verizon and I owe over $900 for these G2's I'm going to suck it up and make payments to T-Mobile. Should have never left.

That is a sad tale.

However the echo on the new LG G2 is something reported on the net and not just with T-Mobile. Sprint has the issue as well according to their forum. This may just be a manufacturer problem with the new LG G2

http://news.cnet.com has a product review that also mentions the echo on the devices. Also camera issues that folks thought you can snap a photo from the back. My wife has the device and it works great. There was an echo when she called from Florida but it is nice and clear and loud when she calls from her work.

Maybe the carrier and yes T-Mobile and Sprint have crappy coverage. so you cannot blame anyone for that

I am still looking at C net. However the above articles are stating the echo. In fact when I Google it the returns were many.

I too considered switching to T-Mobile. I have a few complaints about Verizon, mostly about the money and plans; however, their customer service is excellent. I researched T-Mobile and and was turned off by the ratings. Understand that customer service is operate by working human beings and everyone makes mistakes. I am sorry about your phone, FYI you can add insurance and change your name yourself through your Verizon online. I have been in binds with phones before and have been able to get a replacement phone for cheap or free; try looking at phones online through your Verizon, post on FB (if you use anything like it), pawn shops, friends, or Craigslist. I am far from being a Verizon guru and when asked about contracting with any cell phone company, I say stay away from ALL company contracts its a waste of money!

Research all your options so you can make an informed decison. Best wishes with cell whirlwind!

Switch to Ting Mobile! Ting is a prepaid MVNO that uses Sprint and Verizon's networks. Great service and excellent customer service.

I am also thinking about switching as soon as my plan is up I'm tired of payng $200 for 2 phones when others are offering Unlimited everything at half the price sometimes less than half with no contract.

And for that half price...No or Spotty Service!

It is a risk or trade off depending on how you look at it.

It would be an insult to me if someone offered the same.or.less service for that price. No contract services for $25 per month is common. Everyone can get unlimited talk text and data for $25 per line. Why would you.even consider paying more.

We switched to Tmobile a month ago after arguing with verizon customer service for at least an hour every month since May. Don't misunderstand me, the reps were always very friendly and helpful (theoretically). But when the bill came it was still wrong. I've found the signal to be comparable in most places. But, we love the wifi calling at our house where we have no cell signal. They'll pay ETF up to $650 I believe. We're very happy so far. Now, if I could just get that final bill here and the $320 ETF rebate from tmobile all would be perfecto. Nope, can't get into my verizon cause our # has switched and I can't remember username. Please let this be my final call to verizon!

Not getting that final paper invoice if you read on the forum is very hard to get.

If you can get one, T-Mobile has been denying the rebated monies via gift card for not having a proper payment invoice, or for submitting the paperwork after the due date for reimbursement.
