HTC Eris voice mail question

when i dial my voice mail and hold the phone to my ear the screen goes black and when it asked for the password i have to reactivate the screen and then enter the password usually after that and i put it back to my ear it must hit another button and it tells me my password is incorrect. is there a way with the voice mail to skip the password or do an auto save and just go straight to the messages?

Unfortunately not. Unless you want to set up Visual Voice Mail. 

• The Visual Voice Mail application pops up on customer's device display indicating new voice mail.
  • If applicable, contact information is displayed, allowing the customer to choose which message to listen to. 
• The inbox presents the following choices: Play, Delete, and Options
• The selected message displays the following options for managing the selected message:
  • Call Return - Call return is managed through the phone menu on the application
    • After receiving a message, the user would press Options - The first option is callback and generates the outbound call
    • Pressing 88 suggests that the user has called into the Voice Mail server to check their messages instead of using the Visual Voice Mail application
  • Reply, Forward, Compose via Visual Voice Mail - to another VZW customer 
  • Text Return - Reply with a Text Message
  • Add to Contacts
  • Archive Message
  • Compose Voice Mail
  • Check New Message
  • Email Visual Voice Mail via Multimedia Messaging
  • Personal Operator - Choose the number you want to forward callers to when you can't answer your phone - Alert callers to press 0 to reach you
  • Fax - accept fax transmissions into your Voice Mailbox and print by entering the 10-digit number within the U.S of the printing fax machine
  • Login - without entering a password
    • The Visual Voice Mail Application will not automatically log the customer out
    • Inform customers that, for security, they must logout after each use.
