I have a prepaid smartphone account with data and in my hometown, my phone is constantly roaming. It gets 3g fine at work. The odd thing is both my brother and his wife have vzw phones as well and their phones get full 3g signals in the same room. A local vzw rep said it was my phone (a droid x) so I switched to a droid global 2 and still have the same problem.
