What is on public display - my User Name or MY name?????

Could someone kindly tell me what they see displayed for me as author of this post?

I hate forums that fail to clearly confirm whether a USER NAME or a PERSONAL name is on public display.

On my monitor, all I see is my REAL name when per my custom settings I was expecting to see my avatar and USER NAME, perhaps with something such as "hidden from view" where my real name would be if I weren't asocial and paranoid to CONFIRM that the only thing publicly displayed is indeed my USER NAME.

What's especially disconcerting is that on my Monitor, my name is revealed AND hyperlinked to a pop up that shows my email address which is NOT what I selected in custom settings.

Thanks for the reply, Elector. By "okay" do you mean it's displaying my UserName (xxx_xxx_xxxxxxxx) or what I entered as a real name - "D___ P___" (it isn't my real name as this was a test of this poorly designed forum)

Many wouldn't say it is poorly designed. The software used for the forum is working as intended. The forum software (Jive) is liked so much it is used around the world for a large number of forums/communities. Your name and email address is displayed to yourself unless you change the privacy settings.

The easiest way to how your posts and profile is displayed to the world is to log out and view the posts as a guest.

On thing that is nice, when your Logged on if you want, you can through your User settings change your Username Like mine I have in the past changed mine to B and nothing else) the members on the forum still see you as what you chose when you made your username up for the first time you came on here but when you look at your profile and the post you post.. You see what you changed it too..

This option and many other neat options are available to you in your User settings.. Just have a Look b33
