I just spoke with support and they referred me to here, I think??? I called to ask why I did not have service at our property in College Corner, OH 45003?? She said no it wasn't in the service area? It shows as being in voice/messaging area on the website though. Some family members will not come to our property because there is no service. How do I go about getting service to the area? I can't figure out how there are numerous camp grounds and a state park "Hueston Woods" in the area but no cell service???

I can't help but chuckle when you say "Some family members will not come to our property because there is no service." How did they possibly get by prior to cell phones???

When I look at the coverage map, it does appear that the zip code 45003 has quite a bit of area with "no coverage". This would also lead me to believe that the area surrounding that "no coverage" area as most likely being "spotty coverage".

Regardless, right under the coverage map is a disclaimer which states:

"These Coverage Locator maps depict predicted and approximate wireless coverage. The coverage areas shown do not guarantee service availability, and may include locations with limited or no coverage. Even within a coverage area, there are many factors, including customer’s equipment, terrain, proximity to buildings, foliage, and weather that may impact service. Some of the Coverage Areas include networks run by other carriers, the coverage depicted is based on their information and public sources, and we cannot ensure its accuracy."

As to "I can't figure out how there are numerous camp grounds and a state park 'Hueston Woods' in the are but no cell service???", this is most likely VERY understandable. Cellular service works by placing cell towers in an area to provide service. In an effort to safeguard the "pristine natural condition" of state/federal parks, state/federal governments along with environmental watchdog groups make it almost impossible to place these cell towers in and around these "sacred" tracts of land. Look at the coverage maps. The most neglected areas of cell coverage are within these state/federal safeguarded areas and the surrounding areas are therefore neglected in the process.

As you are aware in our Adirondack Park Region they placed the towers in as huge trees. you cannot even tell they are cell towers. in the infant days of cellular there was no coverage after exit 15 on 87 north towards Canada. Now there is total coverage all the way up the northway due to towers being hidden. no reason they cannot do it for the original poster and others.

Where I live we have spotty 4g coverage but 3G and calling is no problem. over by the campus the fire department has a very tall flag pole, yep its a hidden cell tower. I love technology !

I would have to disagree.

The Frankenpines ARE quite distinguishable and service north of Lake George/Warrensburg area is still quite spotty. While there is better service(but still spotty) NEAR I87, it almost falls off completely if you leave the interstate and actually enter the parkland. Cell service at Gore Mountain ski area, for example is almost non existent if you are not within site of the base lodge.

Ah I don't normally go off the interstate. Lake George and Lake Placid being the exceptions. I have had excellent coverage in both places. And cell service all the way to and through Quebec PQ.

It must be where you go to that has spotty coverage. ha ha

rcschnoor, it's our goal to spread our wireless coverage love in as many places that we can. However, there are several safe guarded State and Federal areas that have restrictions which prevent us from being the primary wireless provider there. It's definitely not our intentions to neglect these areas. We're sorry that you feel this way.

Actually they never read what you wrote, nor the context of the original poster or any of the replies.

The reply was erroneous since protected lands are evidently are being used but not by verizon wireless. Note that reply to you.

I have seen and read of wireless encroachment in state and federal lands as it benefits the consumers, it generates fees to the state and federal government as well as localities (citys, towns, and villages) the towers and transmitters are so well hidden you don't even know that they are there. A friend told me they have towers and repeaters located in our state parks and beaches. ( probably why I see telephones being used and internet access )
