does anyone in south central pa have cell service
I don't either...and I can't call verizon to ask since I don't have service.
I don't either, and like you, I can't call Verizon since it is my only means of communication besides my computer. This sucks!

still down at 9:19pm
I also live in Central PA and have not had service for over two hours. We had a terrible thunderstorm with high winds and lightning pass through, must have knocked something out.
From Verizon Wireless: 65 cell towers are down in the Harrisburg area. This impacts all basic & smart phone services. Verizon has crews working on it and hopes to have it up and running by 11pm,
However it's now 1:20 am and we still don't have cell service.
Now at 7:30 am and I still don't have service... am I the only one?
no you are not alone...i still have no service either
I just finally woke up for the day to find that I still don't have service. This has been going on for 14 hours now. I understand that these things happen due to nature and thank goodness I am not in a scenario at the moment where I NEED my phone, but I'd hope that they comp us on our next bills. Afterall, they are quick to charge us for any little thing.
Still no service here in central PA at 8:30 am on Saturday 7/20/2013.... :smileysad:
Still no service in Elizabethtown. Isn't there any local news reporting this beside one abc27 twitter post?
No service in Quincy twp, Franklin Co, PA at 8:49 AM Sat. July 20, 2013. We had a violent thunderstorm here last night, before I first noticed the outage.
no i havent had service since 5:00 yesterdayand still dont have this morning. they told me they lost seven towers and would be fixed with in an hr. looks like they lied i'm in hanover
I live outside Newport, PA . . . 25 miles North of Harrisburg. We have had no cell service since yesterday afternoon around 5pm I called Verizon from my landline, and they said they hoped to have it fixed by midnight. They also said that 65 towers are out No storms or rain up here yesterday. I wish there was a better, more informative way that Verizon could keep us posted on the internet, instead of wading through "press this", "press that" just to speak to someone. Unless I am blind, I did not see one word about this outage on the Verizon wireless news page for the Northeast.
No service until midnight tonight? It's been out since yesterday for me in Newville. I work from home and NEED the phone for my job. I'm losing more money that way at this point than what I'm losing in lost days of cell service. Why do they not update what is going on on their site? Sorry...not adding anything very productive...mostly just bitching....but I'm almost as annoyed by their lack of communication as I am by their service outage. So glad I don't have a contract with them.
No service here outside of Newport, also since 5 pm yesterday. Replying here to keep this thread current. Thanks for the information as this is the only place I can get it.. All online chats with reps are down, and I do not have a landline to call Verizon that way. As information becomes available, please update here , it is much appreciated. I also work from home so I am hoping this is resolved soon.....
Sorry bethanyd, I meant midnight last night, but as you can see, we're still without service.
tfritz80 - I read that VZ is bringing up the 65 out of service towers one at a time, SO, let's keep our fingers crossed. Technology is GREAT, BUT when it doesn't work . . . Arggggggh
Agreed.. What did we do before cell phones ? Amazing, and not that long ago !!
I'm in Chambersburg. No service since around 5:30 yesterday. Verizon support told me (7:30 this morning) that there were still 65 towers that weren't working. We'll see how this goes.
JUST GOT SERVICE IN CHAMBERSBURG!
In Newport, PA too!
There was a major fiber cut in Harrisburg, I heard possibly Lancaster too, and they were still working on it as of this morning at 0700. However, I did have service in Hershey but none in Etown. Didn't get service back here until about mid morning.
