Dear Verizon Wireless,
I've been a Verizon Wireless customer since 2007 and have been enjoying your service.
I have played my part as a customer and Verizon Wireless has acknowledged this by providing me with special offers and such.
However, I recently received a letter that might change my positive opinion of VW entirely.
The letter was from a collection agency (Enhanced Recovery Company LLC) noting that I have a debt to Verizon Wireless.
Before I express my annoyance, I'd like to note that I DO NOT hold a debt of ANY KIND to Verizon Wireless. In fact, my bill is ALWAYS PAID IN FULL via automatic payment and Verizon Wireless has always given me one of those phone "appreciation" calls for being a "valued" customer, eligible for a phone upgrade, etc.
The letter says that I have a $657.36 debt and goes on to say I can "settle" this with $394.42.
Perhaps this is a scam, perhaps it's not. Regardless, it does not change the fact that my personal information (e.g., my address) somehow reached this real/fake collection agency via Verizon Wireless!
To make things even more sketchy, the name on the letter is some odd combination/version of my middle name and my last name.
Seriously, what is this?!
Is it that Verizon Wireless carelessly allowed my personal information to be leaked to some scamming establishment or is it that VW made a mistake and mixed up my information with someone else's who actually owes this sum?? Either way, this is NOT an evidence of sound operation.
I wonder if Verizon Wireless checks this page or answers in a timely manner but I certainly hope it does because this incident is wasting my time.
Please response as soon as possible with and explanation of how this even happened along with the news that you will rectify this matter.
Also, if anyone has had a similar experience, please feel free to comment/advise.
