New Customer, getting little to no signal at home...coverage map states otherwise??!?

So we just switched from Sprint after being with them for over 9 years, due to dropping calls and poor signal EVERYWHERE! Researched alot before we got into another contract, Verizon was recommended by everyone. I checked and double checked the coverage maps for both voice, messaging and data according to Verizon's coverage map, we live in a GREAT area for all 3. Well ever since we got these phones, about a week now, we have little to no signal for data, cut out when talking to people on the phone, they are constantly telling us "your breaking up" and to top it off dropping calls!! This only happens when we get into the town we live, once we are out of town, the signal is great. BUT we are really second guessing our decision and wondering if we should just get out while we can. This is nuts!!! We've beent through enough with Sprint, are we going to have to go through a whole new headache with Verizon!??!!

The Verizon Wireless coverage map only states that there is coverage. It doesn't state the level of coverage. Is the service better outside then inside? Your building might be contributing to the degradation of the signal.

There are a couple of crowd sourcing maps available that gives more detailed information about the coverage strength. They are www.sensorly.com and RootMetrics.

I am in the same situation. I paid a $700 penalty to break a contract with att in order to switch to verizon because of the poor signal reception i was getting at my home with att. Had I known that verizon considered a faint signal that is present one minute and gone the next to be "coverage" I would have used my money elsewhere and actually got something in return for it. Inconsistent coverage or dropped calls is the same as no coverage at all so I would have to say your coverage map is a grossly optimistic and misleading at best.

It isn't MY map. I'm only a customer like yourself. If I personally want to check out the coverage, I check other places.

Sensorly is a Good source but there recent update in my mind changed them Quite a bit and some are reporting issues) One change is how you set up the app to take data from your phone if not done Correctly it can drain the battery..

As for the other app that A-154 mentioned I haven't tried as of yet might give it a Look and Speedtest for Android has been updated and seems to be a bit more accurate.
