My contact list will not appear on the screen. When I search for a name it comes up but does not show again. What can I do to bring them all up?

Which phone? Motorola or HTC?
I had a similar problem with my contacts not showing up on my Moto Droid after doing a wholesale rework of my contacts through Gmail on my PC. I "cleared data" from the contacts app and it fixed it.
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Menu > Filter - All > Select "Contacts" > Select "Clear Data".
Your phone may how to re-sync with the Google servers before you get the list back.
